Moooon River! :-)

Seriously, After my old doctor retired I went to a new one, who was younger, maybe 5 years out of med school. When I went for my annual physical, he told me they generally don’t do the “two fingered salute” anymore, unless they have reason to suspect something. He said they rely on the results from blood work.
Phew! Didn’t have to go through that again!

Bloodwork is more reliable, but the “rigid digit” is cheaper (and philosophically aligned with ObamaCare).

It won’t be long before Michael Sam does something similar on TV, and anyone who doesn’t applaud will be branded a bigot and given a comparable exam by the IRS and by any other 3-letter agency with power over them.

I was told by two doctors (One an Oncologist) that blood work is more reliable, but digital more often gives the first indication that there might be a problem.

I also know of two men that had theirs discovered "digitally" and the blood work, showed only a minor change. Both of these were 10 years ago, so the test might have improved since then.

About 15% of men will be diagnosed with prostrate cancer in their lives — which is a higher incident rate than breast cancer among women. Yet so much more media attention is focused on breast cancer. Caught early, prostate cancer can be successfully treated. Once the cancer spreads outside the prostate, it can be fatal. Over 50, everyone should get twice annual blood tests.
