LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former “American Idol” finalist Michael Johns has died, according to various reports.
The Hollywood Reporter says Johns, a season 7 top ten contestant, died Friday from a blood clot in his ankle.
TMZ reported Johns had twisted his ankle and was in a great deal of pain. They also said he died in his sleep.
Former “Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told TMZ, “He was a great talent and dear friend. My boys and I are devastated.”
The Australian-born heart throb came in #8 in the season eventually won by David Cook.
Johns — born Michael John Lee — released an album, “Hold Back My Heart,” in 2009.
US Weekly reported that Johns just tweeted last week that he was ready to go back into the studio and record a new song called “Reckless.”
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Stacey Vuduris, a Hollywood interior designer.
A twisted ankle will not kill you, but a blood clot resulting from a twisted ankle might.
You just never know, for the most part, when your time here is up. God only knows, as the saying goes.
Or he could have been another Obamacare statistic. I’ve never heard of anyone dying from a twisted ankle.

Scary. I am sitting in a hospital waiting for my wife to come out of recovery after breaking her ankle this morning.
but how long would it take from twisted ankle to clot to death??? this seems to have happened incredibly quick...
Broken ankle is bad, my brother did that. I hope she will be OK.

It’s a hazard that can occur to someone by just sitting too long in one position, let alone some gross bodily injury. I’d call it a freak accident, even more of a freak accident than the twisted angle itself was.
“It is appointed once for men to die, then the judgment.” God does not want to damn anybody, but some people leave Him no choice because they will refuse salvation, and would do so no matter how many chances they were offered.

Who was the anchor/reporter who lost his arm not long after some equipment fell on him? Just thought his arm was bruised, but then...

The blood circulates the entire body every few minutes. Clots move until they cannot move. If it moves into the brain, it’s over because it causes a stroke.

Back in April, I twisted something in the back of my knee...the pain was bad, but it went away. It came back, and I went to the doctor, who advised an ultrasound. They told me, oh, it’s just a few superficial clots, nothing to worry about.
Again the pain went away, but a month later it was back. They tested my blood for clotting and told me to have another ultrasound done right away-—I did, and it showed a blood clot. They slapped me into a wheelchair and rolled me right over to the ER. When it comes to clots, they don’t mess around-—they can break off and go to your lung and kill you. The day before I got diagnosed, I did a really vigorous dance workout-—the activity could have very well made it break off then, but God was with me.
So, I’m on blood thinners for a couple of more months. Right after the diagnosis, I had to give myself shots in the stomach-—”clotbusters.” It’s amazing what you can do when you have to, LOL.
I never had a medical problem before this. I’m thankful it turned out the way it did.
