The article says “complete systems”.
How many of those “1.6 million” dump a “Blue Boy”, and don’t have a direct septic connection?

These percentage numbers will be reversed when the progressives have completed their fundamental change of America to a Third World country. Only our ruling elites will have working plumbing.

The other day I learned why our neighbors are constantly going up and down between our houses. Because they’re “going” right outside my kitchen window. Yes, it is a very nice vacation house (one of at least 3 they own) with complete indoor plumbing. They’re white/hispanic (supposedly born in US), in the medical field and with at least 6 figure incomes. They’re whackadoodle libs but I never would have thought they’d do this. Yes, it does pizz me off.

There's been much reported on India. Does the posted 4-23-2014 article have anything to do with India? Like.."Hey! the U.S. is just as bad"?

I lived in eastern Kentucky and outhouses in the yard is a hell of a lot different than going on the ground behind a bush or something.

Aug. 3, 2014: India’s Toilet Race Failing as Villages Don’t Use Them

Problems caused when no facilities (like outhouses) are used: Another source says "Surprisingly, 'a child raised in India is far more likely to be malnourished than one from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe or Somalia, the planet’s poorest countries. Stunting affects 65 million Indian children under the age of 5, including a third of children from the country’s richest families,' wrote Harris."

You don’t really need to have an outhouse anymore. There are some very nice indoor composting systems. I ran into them when I was looking for a compost toilet for our boat.

just an example.

No kidding. My wife grew up during the 50s-60s and didn’t live in a house with indoor plumbing until she was 15.

In 2006 I believe there was a kind of state census in VA that had the statistic that about 1/3 of the VA households still had an outhouse rather than indoor plumbing.

It may be pretty good when compared with the turd world but when the whining privileged minorities complain because in spite of their indoor plumbing, cell phones, big screen TVs, cable and refrigerators, there is some amenity they don’t have that others do have.

The democrats and the do-gooders have always done more to bring indoor plumbing to third world crapholes and their “people” than they have to bring American citizens the same things.

***12 per cent of properties in Arkansas were without flushing toilets.***

When we, as kids were dragged kicking and screaming from the Rockies to the Ozarks one of the first things we learned was if a house for sale ad said “modern” it meant an indoor toilet. I still remember lots of places we lived, including down town Denver CO that did not have an indoor toilet.

some people from Arkansas moved to Los Angeles and rented a house with an indoor toilet. When the toilet clogged up, they knocked a hole in the floor and used it for a long time.

A friend I worked with said some religious group bought a number of houses in Wisconsin. The first thing they did was take the commodes out and bust it up with a hammer.

You cannot compare my childhood outhouse in Kentucky with the problems caused in other countries.

Poor Sanitation in India May Afflict Well-Fed Children With Malnutrition

Half of India’s population, or at least 620 million people, defecate outdoors. And while this share has declined slightly in the past decade, an analysis of census data shows that rapid population growth has meant that most Indians are being exposed to more human waste than ever before.

That means more diseases for a growing body to fight which some believe is why alimentary (small intestine) mucosa is smooth and not with folds (like a curtain) giving more area to absorb nutrients. There's plenty of good food and supplements.

The present research on gut diseases in children has focused on a condition resulting from repeated bacterial infections that flatten intestinal linings, reducing by a third the ability to absorb nutrients. A recent study of starving children found that they lacked the crucial gut bacteria needed to digest food.

“The other day I learned why our neighbors are constantly going up and down between our houses. Because they’re “going” right outside my kitchen window.”

A few days ago somebody posted an article about a Chinese woman on a flight in or heading into the U.S. Her child had to relieve his/her self so the woman just laid down some paper and the child, like a well trained puppy (minus the circling), let it rip on top the paper. I started to wonder if this was some sort of cultural phenomenon so I emailed a retired commercial pilot friend and asked him about such. He mentioned how yes, at least on one occasion that he remembers, a Chinese lady went to the back of the plane to relieve herself, but rather than open the door to one of the facilities, she just squatted down and defecated right there in the aisle.

Maybe it’s a thing about liberals and Chinese, or perhaps a thing about aisles and alleys...
