Write-in candidate smokes what she says is marijuana in political ad

"I'm Anne Armstrong, and I'm going to be the next governor of Rhode Island," she says in the minute-and-a-half-long video. "And I hope that during my tenure, I will be able to dispel a number of misconceptions about cannabis use."

Armstrong, who said she smokes cannabis every day, uses it for medicinal purposes, and also argues that it helps her focus and communicate with people around her. In the video, she takes a hit off a pipe after insisting that pot users "shouldn't be ostracized or marginalized."

"It doesn't make people crazy the way you've been told," she says. "We've been lied to for a long time by our government, and something that's been essential to our health has been taken away from us."

"Yes, I do smoke cannabis. And yes, I do inhale," she says, invoking former President Bill Clinton's famous "didn't inhale" remark during his first run for President in 1992.

The stigma about marijuana has clearly lessened since Clinton's comment. Then-Sen. Barack Obama in 2006 admitted, "I inhaled -- that was the point." And he went on to be elected.

Yes, let's vote for someone who must smoke pot daily to function. Pot heads have such a wonderful track record as civic leaders.

so we should elect a person who is in supposed pain, and is on drugs which then affects her mind.
Only in a liberaltarian, liberal view would that make sense

Much like alcohol, it makes you think you're focused and clearly communicating, But when you step back and look at it the next day you realize that you sounded like a mindless moron.

Remember that judge who was insane or something? The left didn’t think that should disqualify him either.

There is also a growing body of scientific evidence high instances of schizophrenia in habitual marijuana users.

I smoke it for three reasons — for medicinal purposes, of course, and because t helps me focus, and ... wow ... totally spaced on that last bit, bro.

Tony Abbott (Aussie Prime Minister) recently announced that they are going to look at cannabis oil for cancer patients and pain and other medical issues - I think he intends to set up a research council on it. Hopefully it will be found to be efficacious and be put into use for those who need it - I am sure God meant the plant to be put to good use and maybe not just for rope and hard wearing pants!

I smoke weed daily. Not much, just a hit or two in the morning and evening. It helps me to put my chronic pain into my back pocket and distance me from the insistence of chronic pain.

I will not chronicle my list of injuries and surgeries.

I will state that it helps me and I do not rely on pills for relief from conditions accumulated over years of abusing my body. My employment caused severe stresses on my skeleton.

I am prematurely retired at 58yo due to those stresses to my body.

Please freepers, do not let your prejudice color your thought processes as regards the nation wide push for legalizing weed.

Indeed! Using the nature provided pharmocopia has long been exploited by the big pharma companies in the form of "new" discoveries.

Do you remember the cancer "cure of the monent" derived from,as I dimly recall, a species of yew bushes?

So "drunken frat boy" is your response to a legitimate question as to the use of our natural pharmacopia?

How thoughtful.

The amendment is on Florida's ballot for November. Two of them actually, one very limited, the other more rational.

My vote will be yes to both!
