Detective Hieronymus 'Harry' Bosch  is a literary character created by Michael Connelly in the 1992 novel The Black Echo, and the lead character in a police procedural series now numbering seventeen novels. The novels are more or less coincident in time frame with the year in which they were published.

Harry, as he is commonly known by his associates, is a veteran police homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. Bosch was named after the 15th century Dutch artist, Hieronymus Bosch.
A new TV series - Bosch - based on the character in the books, will be starting in February 2015 on Amazon Prime. The pilot was uploaded in February 2014 and is available for viewing.

By the way, if you do not already have Amazon Prime, the price has increased to $99 per year.

Most of the books are good, and the pilot was good, IMHO.

Nope power tools. I like Connolly . Lincoln Lawyer was a good movie. Who is going to play Harry?

If you want to see something bizarre, but well executed, take a look at the signature work from Hieronymus Bosch; “The Garden of Earthly Delights.” The activities he depicts or alludes to could make Caligula blush (with jealousy).
I believe Bosch died after being recommitted to a mental asylum by his family.

I’ve read any number of Connelly’s Harry Bosch paperback novels and enjoyed them thoroughly. I hope their casting is good because the wrong actor in that role will just ruin it. He’s probably too old for the role now, but I always sort of envisioned John Larroquette, for some odd reason.

That Bosch triptych has been the object of prurient and morbid fascination for a very long time. It’s been very influential and still is. Dali, for instance.

John Larroquette? Good one!

Too bad John Candy died.

I think I enjoyed Echo Park the most out of all of them.

Great series of books. Also by the same author: The Lincoln Lawyer series.

Thanks for the info. I'm a Prime member but missed this.
I've read most of the series except for the last few novels. It looks like they picked "City of Bones" for the first episode and I was glad to see that Connelly was listed as one of the writers so it shouldn't stray too far from the original.
I don't think that is the actor I would have picked, though. I always pictured someone more solidly built like Tommy Lee Jones.

I just got through binge watching this on Amazon Prime and it was well done. Titus Welliver was great casting as Harry Bosch. He is a most underrated actor and you can count me as big fan of his now.

You watch the first episode and you are hooked. I hope there is a season two of Bosch!
