[history]
Everything from jewelry and watches, to toys and clothing can now be rented.
It's a growing service model catered to people who want to keep up with trends, and those who love an automated buy-and-return shopping process.
Come June or July, these consumers will be able to add another just-want-it-for-a-little-while product to their lists -- the Apple (AAPL, Tech30) Watch.

I’ll just be sitting back and waiting for all the faddies to buy the Apple Watch, and simultaneously complain about the ‘loss of privacy’ in our nation.

Only rent products in very special circumstances ... and not as the normal course of business for yourself.

Still trying to justify why Apple Watch is important and why I would want another friggin device.
I understand that it now works independent of your phone for SMS/txt but, who cares?
That said, a friend receives his on the 24th and I’m sure I’ll hear about it ad nauseum...

Make it $150 for 12 months and FIRE TIM COOK, then I might think about it.
I don’t need a watch, but I like tech gadgets. I retired at age 53 and took my watch off on that very day....that was 13 years ago. ;>)

I found myself in a place with an Apple Store, with some time to kill, so I tried on a couple different 42mm AppleWatches: From the middle-of the pack price line I tried the silver metal link one ($1100) and the blue leather strap one ($700), and from the lowest-cost versions I tried the space-grey with black strap one ($400).
Yossarian finds the Apple Watch not bulky. Note: I have skinny wrists
While the metal link bank in person looks far better than it does in pictures (each link is precisely shaped, edged, and polished), the blue leather band felt very comfortable to wear. It certainly has some kind of premium over the $400 Apple Sport watch, but I don't think it is a $300 premium. More like $125 to $160.
I might pick up one for development purposes. If Tim Cook wasn't such a political @$$h013, it would be far easier to spring for the blue leather.
in the interest of disclosure, I use a 20 year old Mac every day, along with the stuff I *have* to use at work, but BTW, I have no interest in owning a so-called smart phone (possibly in the same way I used to have no interest in owning a cell phone), and the Apple Watch appears to me to be a solution in search of a problem, appealing to the Koolaid drinkers. The incoherent, inchoate animus directed to Apple -- allegedly for reasons that apply at least as strongly to all other brands -- remains both distasteful and a puzzle.
