It looks like the Soviet authorities were right to have him jailed for 12 years...

Only if you believe the press uncritically.

Could be that the Russians set him up. I certainly don't know enough to make a bald statement like that.

Or else the KGB/FSB downloaded the child porn onto his computer remotely and are trying to frame him.

There is nothing the Russian government won’t do to shut somebody up.

The man has been living in the UK since 1976. Why now?

When someone is a high level critic of a very powerful person who has the means to create evidence, I have to apply a degree of skepticism on any accusations. He may have done it however, we’ve seen the sophistication of Russian hackers. If a state sponsor wanted to put malicious images out there, I think it possible. We’ll need to hear the details and hope the Brits handle it fairly.

Ok, we will know this for sure from a sentence by the future court.

They certainly have the skill sets to support it.

This doesn't just get rid of the guy. It stains his positions so that anything he says or supports gets ignored. Sadly I haven't done the digging to support that assumption.

Mother Russia probably has a long memory.

Well, beside the memory 39 years is much more than enough for any kind of conspiracy

Child porn and drugs are the easiest way to imprison anyone at will. All they need is an easily plantable file or tiny baggie “found” on your person and you are an instant felon. And not just any felon but an evil “doper” or “child molester”.

I always said our laws against drug and child porn possession would lead to this. “Possession” of any fungible items without additional evidence should not be a crime!

We have innocent people being imprisoned daily and cops don’t get punished at all. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2095772/Cowboy-cop-Jason-Arbeeny-planted-crack-couples-car-seat-escapes-jail.html

at the link:

quota of felony collars...

It's funny that the NYPD has a quota, just like the Soviet 'militsia'... If you want abuses in law-enforcement, set up a quota for uncovered crimes.

You beat me to it. Kiddie porn and drugs. Absolutely classic Cold War KGB techniques. The guy will spend the rest of his life trying to prove that he didn’t do something and nobody will remember an acquittal if it even happens.

What is the difference between an indecent image and child porn? Is there any difference?

Who knows? It's up to the guys that write the laws.

I'm sure they'll 'know it when they see it'.

What is the difference between an indecent image and child porn?

One is abuse of a child or children. The other could be an image of Helen Thomas (RIP).

Putinist Russia murdered 85 kids when they shot down MH17.

This has not been substantially proven, therefore is just your wishful thinking.

Nonsense. An FSB Colonel from Moscow took credit for blowing MH17 out of the sky. That’s Russian mass murder of 85 kids in your name, FRiend. You own it all.

This is just an allegation by Ukrainian secret services, which hasn't passed an independent verification.
