I saw him many times when I was a kid. Sorry he’s gone, but he had a long and apparently full like.

Carter was one of those guys who while a "star" was never big enough to be a real name. He's in that level above character actor and mainstream big star.

Everybody knew his name because he co-starred in so many films and tv shows, but he just never got to that top echelon.

Last thing I saw him in was the TV show “Shameless”
He played “Stan”, a crusty old bar owner.

He appeared in this Season 6 episode of Sanford and Son:

Fred Meets Redd:

Series was coming to an end at that point and not nearly as good as earlier on.

Wow. I remenber him from the 70s. Glad he was still around this long, even if I haven’t heard from him in a long time.

My uncle was a professional harmonica player in the early-mid 1940s (he died in WW II). I always remember my grandmother had a picture in her collection of a theatre marquee with my uncle’s name on it (among several others). One of the other names on the marquee was Jack Carter. They both had to be in their early 20s at the time. He was performing stand-up comedy (or perhaps he was the Emcee) while my uncle performed music. Every time I saw Jack Carter on TV I thought about how my uncle and he crossed paths once so many years ago. Seeing his obit here made me think of it just one more time.

I was so proud when I instantly recognized him by his voice in Shameless. Thought he had died years ago. RIP

Carter was a guest star on practically every TV series in the 60s and 70s.

Wow here we have had in the space of a week three actors die in their 90’s, Jack Carter, Patrick Macnee and Christopher Lee. Pretty amazing and I always liked Jack Carter.
