Some "salty language" in this one (it *is* a film about NYC, after all), but no graphic violence, nudity, etc. in violation of FR posting rules. 8/10.

Ping!
Evil Roy Slade, good film.
Great movie. Didn’t care very much for the remake.
AHCHOO, indeed. A rather Colomboesque ending, eh? Pity H’wood can’t do anything of this caliber anymore. Guess it’s what we get for letting the education system dumb itself down to cretin level...
Noo Yawkers (I’m a Long Islander, NY, moved away years ago) may best be described as ‘brusque.’ After a while, even the non-natives who live in Manhattan may become brusque.
Always in a hurry, and brusque.
Agreed. Remake was awful.
Agreeing with both of you. The Tony Scott/Travolta remake was pretty lousy. None of the character of the original, and all the style elements of Tony Scott, who (may he RIP) was one of my least favorite directors. Everything has to be frenetic and LOUD in a Tony Scott film, it seems. Travolta’s Mr. Blue doesn’t hold a candle to the late, great, Robert Shaw.
It wasn’t quite as bad a remake as Nick Cage’s version of The Wicker Man, but it was pretty danged awful.
Good one.
The Mayor of New York played by the late James Gandolfini.
And as the fourth hijacker, Earl Hindman. Yes, Wilson from “Home Improvement”. Hi ho there, neighbor.
I think they got the atmosphere of NYC in that time period about right. So maybe your thoughts about NYC (based on the movie) weren’t that far off. :)
Really? Cool! I never knew that. I did know the mayor’s wife was played by Doris Roberts, aka Raymond’s mom in Everybody Loves Raymond.
the movie is a poor adaptation of the novel “The Laughing Policeman” written by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö.
The has little in common with the move. Book better!
Something is wrong with my keyboard and not operator error.
I think I fixed it. My post of a few minutes ago should have read:

Good movie! Thank you!
