I remember sitting in the dayroom down at Robbins AFB waiting on overseas orders watching ST with the guys. We really liked all the different women Kirkout (that’s what he always said “Kirk, out”) was in quarters with and them showing him buttoning his tunic back up. These were all original first-showings.

Next year’s “Star Trek: Beyond” will mark the 50th anniversary.
There are fan hopes that Shatner will be given a role as this may be the last opportunity to have the original Kirk reprise his role as the cast is dying off quickly.

The old shows were my favorite. Sadly Then politics changed it.
... the film [Undiscovered Country] portrays the Klingons not as thugs, but as misunderstood casualties of human bigotry. Kirk and his crew, says Gorkons daughter at the Enterprise banquet, represent a homo sapiens-only club, devoted to such chauvinistic values as inalienable human rights. Why, the very name, she quips, is racist.

Gotta love Star Trek! As Mr. Sulu says “Going where no man (and his partner) have ever gone before.”

I think Forbidden Planet (1956) was the original “Star Trek.”
