The Museum & Library's third annual ON WAR symposium features a full day of programs on military history and affairs, and includes appearances by Pritzker Literature Award winners Gerhard Weinberg, Allan Millett, Antony Beevor, Rick Atkinson, and David Hackett Fischer.

Presented in conjunction with the Museum & Library's annual Liberty Gala—to be held Nov. 7 at the Hilton Chicago—ON WAR 2015 includes four distinct programs with discussions by some of the world's preeminent historians and authors on subjects ranging from the infamous Battle of the Bulge to the history and heritage of the United States Marine Corps.

Included in the price of admission is entry to all four programs, continental breakfast (8:30 a.m.), boxed lunch (12 p.m.), and a cocktail reception to close the day.

The schedule of programs is as follows:

The liberation of Europe, 1945, WITH GERHARD WEINBERG & Rebecca Wittmann

Weinberg and Wittmann 9 AM - 10:15 AM | Noted scholar and military historian Gerhard L. Weinberg, a veteran of the U.S. Army and its post-World War II occupation of Japan, discusses with author and University of Toronto Professor Rebecca Wittmann the liberation of Europe from East to West.

The United States Marine Corps, WITH Allan Millett

10:30 AM - 12 PM | Author, historian, and professor Allan R. Millett—a retired colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve—discusses with fellow Marine and combat veteran Eric Kirsch the history and heritage of the United States Marine Corps.

The American Revolution, with David Hackett Fischer and RICK ATKINSON

1:30 PM - 2:45 PM | 2015 Pritzker Literature Award winner David Hackett Fischer—a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian, bestselling author, and Brandeis University professor for more than 50 years—is interviewed by fellow Pulitzer and Literature Award winner Rick Atkinson.

ARDENNES, 1944: HITLER'S LAST GAMBLE—ANTONY BEEVOR on his new book about the Battle of the Bulge

Antony Beevor 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM | 2014 Pritzker Literature Award recipient Antony Beevor—a veteran of the British Army's 11th Hussars and author of several best-selling books on World War II—shares his latest work, Ardennes, 1944: Hitler's Last Gamble. Already a bestseller in Europe, Beevor's take on the Battle of the Bulge has been hailed as "formidable," "unflinching," and "indispensable" by reviewers.
