Caitlyn Jenner's ESPYS speech shone a light on the 41 percent of trans people who attempt suicide.
In her rousing acceptance speech for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYS last night, Caitlyn Jenner asked that people accept and respect transgender people. She also referenced the alarming number of trans people who face bullying, and the high rates of violence, murder and suicide that impact the community. Back in March, after a spate of high-profile suicides involving trans youth, Vocativ looked at the truly shocking statisticshighlighting the pressing nature of this issue.
Ash Haffner died in North Carolina last Thursdayanother transgender teen lost to suicide. His mother says the 16-year-old had encountered bullying, which worsened when he began to transition publicly. Ash had been so strong for years, she said, using the female pronoun. Ash started enduring the most bullying when she cut her hair short.
Haffners death follows that of Leelah Alcorn, the 17-year-old transgender high schooler from Ohio, whose suicide attracted international attention last December and ignited a broader debate about early transition and conversion therapy. But perhaps most troubling about the deaths of these two young people is that theyre part of a broader trend in the U.S., which sees a disproportionate number of transgender and gender non-conforming teens and adults attempting suicide.

Mental Illness
The heterosexuals will be faulted of course.
If you think it you should just say it. But I won’t.
Just natures way of saying they are not viable.
RE: This is a reflection on hetro puritanical dominance of our culture which marginalizes and discriminates against the gender confused.
You’ve just succinctly described the explanation that most of the media and liberal politicians accept today.
It’s nature’s way of telling you something’s wrong.
If people with mental issues are denied proper counseling and instead are encouraged, should we be surprised that it often spirals out of control?

But probably not too far out of line with the suicide rates of people suffering from other serious mental illnesses.
80% of suicides up to the age of 25 in the US identify in the LGBT community.
The left needs these people as part of their argument against gun deaths.
I kind of think it’s natural for straight men to be repulsed by men who want to be women or are incredibly iffeminate.
I hate to think the way our long ago ancestors treated these people.
They don’t deserve punishment for a mental illness, nor do they deserve reward. Psychological help would be good.
Not mutilating their bodies because of dysmorphic disorder would be good.
80 percent of gender confused accept their gender as natural by 18 years old.
but lets not let facts get in the way.
RE: But probably not too far out of line with the suicide rates of people suffering from other serious mental illnesses.
The question is this — Do they commit suicide DESPITE their gender reassignment procedure or do they commit suicide because they CANNOT get the reassignment?

If only all you h8ers would just accept them for who they are,
they wouldn’t be so depressed...
at least, that’s what libs would say.

Why do I ask? because if it is the former, then Bruce Jenner has a high probability of killing himself.
