Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio Grow Apart As Their Ambitions Expand
NY Times ^ | 11/1/2015 | Jason Horowitz

When he ran for Senate from Texas in 2012, Ted Cruz welcomed the comparisons on Captitol Hill and in the news media to Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, another 41 year old Cuban American and oratorically gifted conservative who, two years earlier, had ridden a wave of Tea Party support to victory over his states Republican establishment.

But Mr. Cruz also sought a more direct connection to Mr. Rubio, making several pilgrimages to his Washington office for advice, as well as an endorsement, according to people who were members of Mr. Rubios staff at the time.

Mr. Rubio, by then outgrowing his Tea Party stage and seeking to position himself as a party leader who did not meddle in others primaries, never found room in his schedule for Mr. Cruz, who had to settle for a meeting with Mr. Rubio’s staff members.

Mr. Cruz won without Mr. Rubios endorsement, and later confided to a Republican senator that he 'resented ' Mr. Rubios reluctance to endorse him. Now, the two Republican stars, biographically similar but stylistically opposite, are running for president, and Mr. Cruz is privately telling colleagues that he believes the race for the partys nomination will boil down to a contest between himself and Mr. Rubio.

Without question Rubio is not the man of substance Cruz is.

Rubio is a guy who puts his finger to the wind. We have enough of that kind of guy—more than enough actually.

That would be my guess also. I prefer Cruz.

That was not the intent of the article. The intent is to defame both and bring division and hostility to their campaigns. The NY Slime is not interested in truth, only their leftist agenda.

Mr. Rubio, by then outgrowing his Tea Party stage

So was this like 10 minutes after he was elected, or did he wait the full 15?

Rubio (State House Speaker) rose in Floriduh with Tea Party backing and an in State party that had no other, cept maybe crist?

Cruz, like Rubio, had Tea Party backing and BUCKED the IN STATE party backing, Rove, BUSH and Dewherst!!!

There are few GOP STATE POLICAL Parties as powerful as TEXAS, and CRUZ laid it to waste.

Rubio has always been a poser. I won’t vote for him if he’s the nominee.

" Mr. Cruz defused any tension by sharing a story about how he had mistaken an aid's tobacco spit cup for his coffee and taken a swig during an important phone call."

Ewwwww!

Everything one needs to know about Rubio right here. His priority is himself. Whether it's the Tea Party or the Establishment, he's willing to ride whatever movement is "in" to get where he wants to be.

He'd make a good Democrat with that Ends Justify the Means attitude.

“Rubio reminds me of a fast talking used car salesman.”

Exactly! He would be the back office guy they bring out when you balk at biting their “best price”.

“Rubio reminds me of a fast talking used car salesman.”

Agreed. And it takes only a quick peek under the hood to know that it’s a no sale.

Boy your being a little hard on Used car salesman.
I consider Rubio is a soulless bloodsucking leech with zero redeeming traits .

Watching that scum lied to all the stupid gringos about amnesty and then peddle executive amnesty in Spanish the next day about sums up his devious true nature .
