Man's best friend came about after generations of wolves scavenged alongside humans more than 33,000 years ago in south east Asia, according to new research.
Dogs became self-domesticated as they slowly evolved from wolves who joined humans in the hunt, according to the first study of dog genomes.
And it shows that the first domesticated dogs came about 33,000 years ago and migrated to Europe, rather than descending from domesticated European wolves 10,000 years ago as had previously been thought.
Scientists have long puzzled over how man's best friend came into existence but there is conflicting evidence on when and where wild wolves were first tamed.

Gentlemen of the Jury: The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us, may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer. He will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.
If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.

Ask Arabs about man’s best friends.
Good puppy. Good puppy. First time in 30 years we are pupless. The last one nearly did me in so won’t likely be doing it again. Am I a wimp? Yup. I get too damn attached to them. :>)
I assume you are talking about goats? ;-)
To be fair the bible isn’t very kind to dogs either.
This guesstiment is as good as the previous one I GUESS.........
OHHHH I have feeling my late Pit Bull was part Asian LOL!
Is that in dog years or people years?
Man, that dog is OLD! 33,000 times 7 = 231,000 human years.
I didn't believe it, never have pain like that before, but it's true.
That is something very close to home right now, but I can’t make the necessary fifteen year commitment.
INSANE-Level Challenge: Teach him a new trick.
There is a nice video God Made Dog on this same topic in an earlier thread.
I can honestly report that puppy breath made the pain go away, for the most part, in the ways that matter.
Life with dogs is better than life without dogs.
**man’s best friend for 33,000 years**

Some of our neighbors allow us to pet their dogs. :>)
Dogs are actually pretty frightening creatures to some people, I guess it is a personality thing.
Contrary to popular opinion, dogs are not “best friend” to the person chosen as master, the relationship is much more complex than that. The concept of “friend” does not even enter the dog’s mind. The dog’s master is more of the “alpha” of the pack the dog has chosen to join, and the whole psychology of the dog is built on that relationship. The “alpha” may, in an objective sense, be a failure in the world, but the follower dog will ignore these signs of failure, and if need be, leap fiercely to the forefront to defend the “alpha” with every ounce of loyalty of which he is capable, often displaying a degree of empathy and ingenuity that seem to come from an almost divine source.
People rarely ask the dog what he may think of the relationship.
