It is wonderful to see the new FR banner wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. As Donald Trump says, many see that as being politically incorrect. Well, it is about time we stand up and say what we mean. Over the years, I have laughed at some absurd sayings from the politically correct.
Here is one I always laugh at. About 20 years ago we were visiting relatives in the Pacific Northwest, Portland OR to be exact. It was around Christmas time but the weather was quite fair, mild and warm. Now being from Texas and my Host having an excellent BBQ grill on the deck gave me an idea. How about a nice Texas BBQ on Christmas eve.
I started my quest for my endeavor at Freddy's , biggest chain store in the area. Purchased all the meat, veggies and trimmings needed for this event, then I went looking for charcoal for the grill, looked everywhere, couldn't find any. Finally asked an attendant where I might find it and was informed there was no charcoal because it was not in season. Being from Texas I could not even remotely understand that statement. All was not lost. Eventually we found a convenience store that still had 3 five pound bags left over from the summer. The cookout went great but we did get strange looks from some of the neighbors.
So, share with us some of your experiences of absurd politically correct moments, or some wild politically incorrect stories you may have encountered.
I was out fairly late tonight on the highways, and I saw something in a car ahead of me that caught my eye. It was a hatchback, with a large rear window beneath eye level with respect to the driver’s seat of my SUV. A lot of colored lights were visible inside. I drew nearer in the passing lane, and was amazed by what I saw.
Inside the hatchback, on the right, was a beautiful miniature Christmas tree, with dozens of tiny colored lights.
On the left side was a complete miniature Nativity crèche, represented in considerable detail. All the figures were present. The Christ Child was illuminated from within, lying in the manger.
I was a bit shocked by what a cool idea this was. As I drove on, I thought “I bet there’s some company selling those on the internet.” When I got to my destination, I looked up “rear window manger scene” on Google, and found not a single hit.
I think the owner of that car thought that display up himself, and executed the rear-window display using his own ingenuity.
Shastlivolgo Rozhdestva. So The Donald can send greetings to Vlad
That’s quite unique, maybe some ideas for some FR entrepreneur?
OK, you got me on that one, google doesn’t even have a reply what that means.
Actually that is Merry Christmas in Russian
Transliteration, Blessed Nativity...
Of course, here in Texas it would be a mortal sin for stores not to carry charcoal year-round, but what is politically incorrect about not having charcoal in stock?
We should have a day or a weekend moratorium on bashing Republican candidates and devote it to exposing the hypocrisy, lies, and lunacy of the left. Sort of like a “Holiday” card to them.
BBQ season, like fashion season or fishing season is crazy.Don’t wear white after memorial day, stupid, put your rod and reels away because it’s cold, stupid, don’t grill because it’s not in season, stupid.
In 2013 and 2014 I have spent time around the turn of the year in Malaysia on the north coast of Borneo.
Malaysia is a majority muslim country, but it was amazing to see all the Christmas decorations everywhere. In the supermarkets, Christmas carols are being played non stop (with all the original lyrics, mind you...). At the same time I hear that the “C...” word is being banned from being shown in many places in Europe and the US. Very odd indeed...
Sort of like a âHolidayâ card to them.
I make it a point to point out to people who prefer to say “Happy Holidays” that “Holiday” is a derivative of “Holy Day”. They can’t win for losing.
That is so good to hear. Malaysia is one Muslim country I would not mind visiting.
Oh I agree. I used that as the liberal term. I mean, after all, I was suggesting we point out all their flaws.
I understand. :)
