Students at the Oxford Union voted on Tuesday night to remove the controversial statue of Cecil Rhodes with 245 ayes and 212 noes as part of a wider movement of "decolonisation" of the curriculum at the university. The vote followed a fierce debate between those who argue the statue of the Victorian imperialist is proof that Oxford is "institutionally racist" and therefore must be toppled and those who believe we can't erase the past and think the statue should stay. Arguing against the motion, Professor Nigel Biggar, who teaches moral and pastoral theology at Christ Church, Oxford, said that if the statue of Rhodes must fall, then statues of Winston Churchill should also be removed.

Fine if the Oxford students are so offended by seeing a statue of Rhodes then get the Rhodes scholarship should be liquidated and write a check to the millions of Africans in the countries supposedly raped and pillaged as reparations.

Who cares what the students think? Why should we care what the students think?

They come there to learn not to teach. They will be gone in a few years and a new class will be there with different ideas of how things should be run. Why bow and scrape to please a temporary whim of temporary occupants?

To appease immature fools momentary grievances is to invite more and greater demands for further appeasement.

Tell them to go home and shut up or be expelled.

Rhodes was allegedly a closet homosexual so this must be homophobia.

The putrid odor of progressivism can overcome any university.

The obvious solution iis to kick the low IQ trolls out on their smelly Obamholes.

But, what is obvious to the intelligent is not so to the lib arts faculties of even Oxford.

Does this mean that BJ Clinton will no longer (improperly) claim to be a Rhodes scholar?
