The idea of a President Donald J. Trump was once so facially absurd that it was little more than a punchline in an episode of The Simpsons. Now, as some of us struggle to make sense of a world in which this casino-magnate-turned-reality-TV-star could very well lead the party of Lincoln, many are casting about looking for a historical analogue to the phenomenon that is Trump.

The DC political class and the nattering nabobs of antiTrumpism have shown the voters exactly what they think of them. The voters will respond in a manner which they may not like
The author is delutional at best...
President Trump is not absurd. What’s absurd is a spit-flinging socialist who’s older than granite. What’s absurd is a harridan with no qualifications and a rap sheet longer than John Gotti’s. Or an incompetent half-black preener with an inverse Midas touch’ who can turn everything he touches to feces.
That's all it's about to the elites; the Party and their power. At no time do they self-reflect and consider voters may be sending a message.
National Review will never be able to make sense of a President Trump. They don’t understand the American people. Too much DC thought and not enough American living.
National Review is finished.
GO TRUMP!
Another foaming and frothing at the mouth neo-con artist, nothing new or surprising.
The author has done a good job at keeping his picture off the web, for sure.
I want to see the GOP disintegrate.
I don’t think Trump will go 3rd party.
Mark Levin likes to rant and rave about rules. That you have to have 1237 or you don’t get the nomination.
In recent years the rules haven’t come to play because when a candidate saw he had no chance to win on the first ballot they withdrew. Then the front runner picked up the remaining primaries and went to a “ratification’ vs nominating convention.
This year we see candidates with no chance of winning on the first ballot staying in, expressly to deny the front runner from winning on the first ballot. The plan then is obviously to steal the delegates the front runner won fairly at the ballot box.
If candidates Cruz and Kasich had any integrity at all, they would withdraw and let Trump try to heal the party.
Does Cruz actually think he is going to steal the 500 or so delegates he is going to need to win? Or is he a foil of some kind so the gope can install someone else?
If things keep on like this Cleveland will make Mississippi look like the minor leagues. Ted Cruz will be Thad Cochran on steroids.
Then the gope gets to tell the millions who voted for Trump TS. That will go well I’m sure.
The people are stupid. Sniveling wretch Snyder is Mr. Smarty pants.
Laura Ingraham called it the other day. Let the establishment play all thier tricks and when they get their way by being poopheads, millions of Trump supporters will leave them hanging on Election Day. Sorry but this is what is going to happen and no....Cruz won’t be the nominee either. People are fed up.

Whatever became of the concept, no matter how fancifull, that any child born in America could rise to the office of President of the United States?
Niedermeyer dead!
Whig party dead!
Republican party dead!
We conservatives are caught between the establishment and the strong-man populism of Trump. We lose no matter who wins.
If that happens, Clinton will win a 48 state landslide (Tx, Ut)
