The Mexican Soccer Federation launched a campaign Tuesday urging fans to refrain from anti-gay chants that drew fines from FIFA earlier this year.
Called Embraced by Soccer, the campaign consists of a couple of 30-second videos in which popular stars including forward Javier Chicharito Hernandez, captain and defender Rafael Marquez and midfielder Andres Guardado ask fans not to engage in discriminatory behavior.
Announced hours before Mexico hosted Canada in a 2018 World Cup qualifier for the CONCACAF region, the campaign did not deter fans at the capitals Azteca Stadium from making the chants during the nighttime match. The videos were not shown to the crowd before the game.
In a statement, the soccer federation said the videos aim to discourage a practice that is contrary to respect and the dignity of people.

This will not end well.
(You know, the .gif of the smiley face eating popcorn.)
It’s bad enough that American football players are now WEARING PINK. Hopefully the Mexican soccer players will be permitted to keep some of their MANHOOD.
it’s very simple.
stop supporting any organization that promotes homos. this means avoiding tv shows, movies, and soccer games.
Why don’t they draft Michael Sam?
Mexico is playing right now. Just heard this loudly on the broadcast when the goalkeeper kicked off. Puuutooooo. Definitely not politically correct. LOL.
Eff the homosupremecists!
Actually, it would be helpful to learn them here...
A bunch of boys running around in shorts that
might flash the girls the junk, chasing a ball over
a grass field sometimes bloodied with a player’s
ripped off junk, and producing a team franchise
that was purchased by the notorious rock star
Elton John, makes the European invention of
soccer, too queer for me to get all interested
over.
