Triad Clown Couple Says Mysterious Sightings Have Crippled Business

Joseph and Lisa Brown, better known as Jazz and Jojo, have made clowning a major part of their livelihood.

"We want to make kids laugh and adults laugh and ease worries away for the day or the hour that we're there or the two hours that we're there," said Lisa.

She’s been a professional clown for 14 years. Joseph, a clown school graduate, is in his 25th year as a clown.

"That shows you how much that I have put into it and have enjoyed the career that I've had being Jojo the clown," said Joseph.

For the Forsyth County couple, it's upsetting to hear about people impersonating clowns and scaring children.

"I'm angry because what we've worked so hard for, they're ruining, it's sadness because I don't understand why they would have to do it," admitted Lisa.

Now they say they're scared to go out in public in costume.

"What would we run into?” asked Joseph. “Would we be pulled over by the Sheriff or police? Would we be chased down by somebody?"

Birthday parties, nursing homes, restaurants, the couple used to have as many as 10 gigs per week. Since the clown sightings, that number has dropped to zero.

"The phone's not ringing and we have talked about seriously between the two of us well why don't we just give it up,"

It's not a good time to be a clown.

Once upon a time, when America was straight-laced and serious, a goofy clown wearing an outlandish outfit was perceived as amusing.

But now, we have people who look and dress and act like a freak-show act walking around in public, and ordinary people are threatened with sanctions and shaming if we don't treat them as if they are perfectly normal.

In that context, a clown costume isn't that amusing anymore.

I’ve always found clowns creepy. They’re right up there with mimes and Democrats.

And they are STILL creepy!

Don’t they know that many children are downright freaked out by clowns? Wake up screaming at night, and now have a face for the thing hiding in their closet!

BAN KLOWNS!!!!

Go to youtube for Post Sugar Rice Krinkles, brought to you by Krinkles the Klown.

Watching it forward is creepy enough but seeing it played backwards, from the klown’s mouth to your cereal bowl, is much creepier.

If one is frightened by clowns [why?!], merely perceive them as fodder for pistol practice. It makes bad things laughable...

I never gave clowns much thought until I read Stepnen King’s “It” many years ago.

Since then they creep me out...

Heh, heh, I’ll soon be 68 & Krinkles Klown is laughworthy. Post Cereals must have fired whoever came up with it.

Especially the rooster crowing backwards at the end/beginning like a harbinger of approaching doom.

C’mon....won’t kill ya to look once. Pretty sure, anyway.

Well, okay . . . I’ll put my future peace of mind at stake for you. Actually I looked for it and found the commercial but not the backwards part.

Do you have a direct link?

“Krinkles creepy cereal commercial” has several versions on youtube but dog my cats the reversed version has been pulled!

That’s not the first time something put online backwards gets taken down. Must be some really bad juju in reversing stuff.

For the first time in my adult life I can say that I am proud of YouTube for saving my mental psyche . . . at least for a little while - or until dementia finds me first.

Sorry, but we had 8 years of a clown, so maybe the clown business is off because of 'Sir Kenyan Clown'..

Unfortunately, the Dems got a few clowns...Hillary is the murderous clown, which is really bad...
