From July 1st it will no longer be forbidden for men who have had sex with men to give blood — provided they have been celibate for the past 12 months.
Medical watchdog Swissmedic has approved the request, lodged by blood donor service Swiss Transfusion SRC last June, reported news agencies on Tuesday.
Currently, all men in Switzerland who have had sex with another man since 1977 are barred from donating blood — a rule brought in during the 1980s to stop the spread of AIDS.
However, medical groups have argued that the presence of new diagnostic tools that can detect HIV/AIDS in a matter of days now make a total ban unnecessary. …

Its not just AIDS which is of concern.
Its great that we are better at AIDS detection now than years ago.
But active homosexual men are prone to a whole host of health issues besides AIDS.
This is classic cherry picking. Yes we have a much better handle on AIDS and HIV tainted blood now. But thats nit really the issue anymore. What about all the other issues involved with homosexual men???

In the meantime, stay the hell away from the Swiss and the CDC/FDA or whomever (we will be keeping them) should ban Swiss nationals or anyone who gets a transfusion in Switzerland from donating here in the USA.

I might guess that you are hinting at some form of Hepatitis for which there is as yet no reliable blood test - but for all I know, you might be referring to hemorrhoids.
