Thereafter, the new carrier will spend roughly the next two years being outfitted with various systems such as sensors and other hardware.

China already has a refurbished Soviet CV. This new one used the same design. But I found this funny:

“One key difference is the design will be more ‘humanized,’ which means all personnel on the carrier will enjoy a more comfortable and modern environment.”

Soviet Union was never known for incorporating liveability into its weapons design.

They were a great inspiration for the Borg charging stations, though.

This really is good news as it shows the Chicoms are preparing to ‘fight the last war’ as the saying goes. Aircraft carriers, with the maturing of drone technology and other new, cutting-edge weapons systems, are almost already completely obsolete. Let the Chinese waste their money on what the US has been dominant at for 75 years...while we put money into fifth-generation fighters, whisper-quiet submarines, lightning-fast torpedoes, etc. etc.
