His songs all make me melancholy. They are good, but prepare to feel sad afterward.
I remember his television show as a young child.

I'd love to have Wierd Al do a polka or rap of one of these songs. It might help counter their normal effect.

“Honey” is from 1968, not 1969.

The Smothers Brothers did this one on their show. I believe Dick sang it straight as the “Honey Husband” giving a tour of the original “Honey House.” In the gift shop afterward they sold “Honey I Miss You” buttons and “I Want to Be With You” pillows.

I hated his songs. Pathos downers. But then, I hated lots of tenny bopper bubble gummer music from the late 1960s.

This song makes me want to slit my wrists....

One of the most horrifically mawkish recordings of all time.

I have an urge to drive a stake through the heart of this thread. Each song mentioned made me puke then and now.
“And Honey I miss you...”
If it is in my brain all day, I am putting it in everyone’s brain. Consider yourselves queer song cursed.

First Honey I was at work and she died in my parents driveway. Dad couldn't bring her back with CPR it was too massive. Second Honey I was beside her at her passing. Goldsboro did a few more hits like Watching Scotty Grow and Mississippi Line. He was also a guitar player for Roy Orbison. I can relate to the song and sometimes Daisy a Day.
Bobby Russel actually wrote Honey and several other hits such as The night the lights went out in Georgia, Little Green Apples, and my favorite Saturday Morning Confusion.
