I just looked up the movie “Town Without Pity”. What a rough film that must have been to make and to watch.

I can guess why I never saw it as a child.

I thought Gene Pitney did it...

Wow. She was only sixteen in “Town Without Pity”. That was one heavy flick.

I remember the song; the line “how can anything survive when these little minds tear you in two?” sounded like the lovers were surrounded by hovering malevolent cerebrums with eyes. To a kid, anyway.

She was GORGEOUS! I saw Taras Bulba when I was a preteen. Beautiful doesn’t go far enough to describe her in that movie. But then again, Tony Curtis was gorgeous back, too. Two beautiful people. But Curtis was only beautiful in the roles he played. Not a good guy from what I have read. Leukemia (Kaufmann’s demise) is very difficult to control in adults. RIP lovely lady.....to this preteen girl, you were stunning to look at.

Gene Pitney recorded the song but it was never used in the film.

The song was written by Bacharach & David.

A beauty for sure.
At the link there is a photo of her with Tony Curtis, supposedly taken in 1963. By my math she was 18 in the photo. Looks much older.

Kirk Douglas is still around, age 100 and climbing (or at least ambulatory).

You’re right - I was thinking of “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence” which was not in the film.

I guess my SSD brain memory needed rebooting.

Thought I recognized Robert Blake at the beginning of the trailer. He is listed in the cast.

Just a comment......In Germany, in the 60’s, it would appear that conviction for Rape carried the death penalty. My how they have evolved. They ought to bring back that penalty as they seem to be having a problem with rape these days.
