The Eagles have filed a lawsuit accusing the owners of a Mexico hotel of using the name "Hotel California," arguably the band's most famous song, without permission.
In a complaint filed late Monday, the Eagles said owners of the 11-room Todos Santos hotel in Baja California Sur "actively encourage" guests to believe the hotel is associated with the band, in order to sell t-shirts and other merchandise, and make guests feel welcome.
This allegedly included piping "Hotel California" and other Eagles songs through the hotel sound system, and selling t-shirts in that refer to the hotel as "legendary," resulting in apparent confusion among many guests who posted online reviews.

Hey, the Mexican owner is just getting his fair share of Henley’s fame. Henley is a racist, xenophobic bigot for suing this poor person of color.
“You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.”
Not sure how eager I’d be to get a room there.
I agree that any Eagle-related memorabilia or references should have been cleared with The Eagles first for intellectual property reasons but, then again, this is Mexico and who knows what their laws say about such matters?
Leftists believe in walls, both physical and economic, when it affects their property... Surely open borders should mean more than simply letting undocumented illegals in, and it should include all intellectual property such as pretending a hotel is associated with the Eagles. The racists need to just back off...
Or realize that the rule of law is to protect everyone, including leftists.
I’m waiting for Ian Anderson to chime in with “Yeah, but Don Felder swiped the music from me”.
:D
You can still find nuts that believe that the album cover was satanic.
No, really, from a fuzzy out of focus guy in the background.
I thought it was in Santa Monica?
Are the guests allowed to leave? If so, the Eagles have no case.
All the owner has to do is pay off the judge...case dismissed!
Not anymore. It’s now Villa Del Sol. The address is 305 N. Harbor Blvd. I was born in a little hospital that has also changed uses over the years located at 600 N. Harbor Blvd.
Looks like that hotel was named Hotel California before the Eagles even played an instrument. Don't these guys have something better to do ... like write some new songs?
11 rooms?
Motel.
I might have to side with the Big Lebowski on this one. The Dude hated the Eagles
“There they danced in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat...”
No air conditioning..
“They stab it with their steely knives, but they just can’t kill the beast...”
Undercooked, tough food.
“We haven’t had that spirit here since 1969...”
No booze.
“Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way”
Lights are out.
“There were voices down the corridor,”
Noisy tennants
“You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!’”
Oh, yeah... and you’re damned for eternity.
There is one in Santa Monica, on Dudley Street about 1/2 block from the beach... it looks like a dump. My friend, a son of Denis Wilson, was head chef across the street for a number of years. I don't know if it's THE Hotel California or not.
OK... it’s their endlessly played hits that suck so bad I want to smash the radio every time I hear one of their God-damned songs.
ENOUGH ALREADY, DEE-JAYS!!! It’s BEEN FOURTY YEARS!!! FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO PLAY!!!!!!!
Check out the video of Felder and Joe Walsh playing dueling guitars on the song. When you listen to it on the radio you can tell Walsh from Felder because Walsh uses his classic signature little high whoop at the end of the chord.
