California plans to tax space travel by the mile
American Thinker ^ | May 5, 2017 | By Ed Straker

Liberals are salivating at the idea of taxing cars by the distance they travel, to better rake in money for their nefarious purposes. In California, they are taking the idea one step farther, planning to tax space rockets by the mile as well.

According to the proposal, California will collect tax from space transportation companies based on a formula factoring in how often a company launches spacecrafts out of the state, and, most importantly, how far a commercial spacecraft travels from California soil. Between May and mid-October, there were eight launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base, in Santa Barbara County about 50 miles south of San Luis Obispo.

If you put your dock/pier at the right location and with the right shape, your finger will be seen on Google maps.

Liberalism is a mental disease.
= = =

That’s what we call it now.

Reading in Matthew, I have been marking all the Demon Possessions that occurred. And the casting outs. The possessed people would be called mental, today.

We are witnessing increasing displays of Demon Possession.

Probably been there for a while, but getting more open/bold.

And for this post, I am specifically talking liberals/demo(n)crats in House and Senate.

And the Pubs who have given themselves over to power, money, and fame.

This is /NOT S !!!!

so, why not go all the way. What say you, California?
= = =

We are taxing emissions, right?

So, each household will have a Govt. installed unit. It has a tamper-proof seal, and an alarm, like an ankle bracelet.

You pee and poop into it. These are taxable emissions.

You can run, but you can’t hide. And we will tax any running as transportation.

so, when will they figure that this could work with the airlines also ....
= = =

They already tried that. Tax income of out of state pilots that travel over CA for the % of time over the state.

Professional Sports athletes are taxed proportionally for the games played in CA. I’ll bet each player has a specialized accountant for this. Rush moved out of NY due to taxes, and I think he won’t set foot there.

“It’s like they WANT SpaceX to pick up and move to Texas or Florida.”

Vandenberg is the only safe place to launch polar orbit satellite in the U.S., which are the most useful satellites aside from the few in Clarke orbits.

I suspect this space tax is a non-starter as the Feds will claim all authority beyond a few hundred feet up belong to the Feds. They already to do this for air traffic control. States have no say so in that, so there’s already a precedence.

ey!” That’s what the left’s endless appetite for taxes really comes down to in the end.

The New Simplified Liberal 1040 had Hillary won the election:

Line E Amount you donated to the Clinton Global Initiative last year, thank you: $________,_______,_______.00
Line F Amount of all labor union dues you paid last year, thank you: $________,_______,_______.00
Line G How much do you want to donate to elect wonderful DEMOCRAT candidates to office (note, this donation is unlimited)? $________,_______,_______.00
Line H How much do you want to donate to elect hateful REPUBLICAN candidates to office (note, this donation is limited to 2¢)? $________,_______,_______.00
Line I Total Lines D, E, F, G, and H to find total permitted deductions from available surplus to donate: $________,_______,_______.00
Line J Subtract Line I from Line C. This is your Tax. Send it to IRS: $________,_______,_______.00

SpaceX already has a facility near Waco and they are building out a launch site in South Texas. I’ve been trying to get hired into their Waco site for a while. No luck, but I did get a cool jacket.

Paging space people, paging space people, Arizona’s calling on the white courtesy phone, as California commits seppuku.

I was just reading the other day that back in 1936 Calif actually set up a border and limited who could come in to those who could prove they were self-supporting. It was shot down as unconstitutional a year later, largely because of the number of dustbowl refugees.

Yes, that would be the infamous geosynchronous loophole. It’s vitally important that satellites are made to pay their fair share, and California is just the place to do that.

... in 1936 Calif actually set up a border ...

We shouldn't say that Californians are hypocrites, because in 1936 California had lots of conservatives, and are nothing like the liberals who flooded in later and turned things upside down. I mean, this was Reagan country back then, a far cry from now. Of course, this was but a sliver of time, a half century or more of conservative values when shortly before that, there were few people in California except for the native tribes. It was good while it lasted, then the liberals came in and ruined things.

Yeah, too bad about the dustbowl refugees, that was horrible (will have to read up on that). But what do you do when overwhelmed by beggar outsiders at your door? You lock your door, but slip them some food and assistance. But you can't let them all flood into your house when you have your own family to feed and care for. What's happening now is that liberals are trying to eliminate the ability of people to fence and lock their property, with this notion that all that we have should be shared with invaders. If a country like Mexico can't take care of their people, we can slip them some food and assistance but keep them outside our fence. Keeping citizens out of California was unconstitutional, but keeping foreigners out of the USA is not unconstitutional as they have no constitutional rights.

New Mexico has a spaceport. I also wonder if launching from a ship is an option. Their design and development teams could be anywhere.

Yep! Right now most of their tech work is being done in Hawthorne, but they could start to hire and move positions out of California.

Considering how expensive that area is, I'm surprised they haven't distributed more of their work force out of CA. Houston (Clear Lake / JSC area) has a lot of empty office space and a lot of talent (with actual aerospace backgrounds) and would be perfect. I've had email exchanges back and forth with reps from SpaceX, but they don't listen to me. :)
