Sir Edward Heath 'Would Have Been Questioned' Over Abuse Claims

Sir Edward Heath would have been questioned over sex abuse claims if he was alive when they came to light, police have said.

Wiltshire Police launched Operation Conifer in 2015 when the former PM was accused of historical child sex abuse.

The Conservative politician would have been interviewed under caution over seven claims, including the alleged rape of an 11-year-old, they said.

No inference of guilt should be drawn from this, police stressed.

The allegations include one of rape of a male under 16, three of indecent assault on a male under 16, four of indecent assault on a male under 14, and two of indecent assault on a male over 16.

'Paid encounters'

The earliest, dating from 1961 when Sir Edward was Lord Privy Seal, alleged he had raped and indecently assaulted an 11-year-old boy in London "during a paid sexual encounter in private in a dwelling." Another two of the seven claims relate to "paid sexual encounters."

The Sir Edward Heath Foundation called the report "profoundly unsatisfactory".

In a statement, Sir Edward's former cabinet secretary, Lord Armstrong of Ilminster, and chairman of the Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation, Lord Hunt of Wirral, said the report neither justifies or dispels the "the cloud of suspicion".

"All those who knew Sir Edward Heath or worked with him are, without exception, convinced that the allegations of child abuse will all be found to be groundless," it said.

"Under caution," would be the U.S. equivalent of having been read your rights.

The thing about accusations about the behavior, decades ago, of a man who is now dead is that the accusations cannot be proved or disproved. I suppose if Sir Edward had left verifiable holographic diaries, with names, dates, etc., that would be proof, but otherwise ...

Nothing.

This just strike me as kind of funny:
“Sir Edward Heath would have been questioned over sex abuse claims if he was alive when they came to light”

To me it’s like announcing, “I would have bought a yacht if I won the lottery last week”.

A couple close friends said he was asexual. One report said Margaret Thatcher thought he was gay. It seems unclear if there are any reporting victims?

I think it’s like saying, there would be enough evidence to get a warrant, if he were alive, but not enough evidence to go to trial.

It seems unfair to discuss publicly such allegations about a dead person when there is no evidence. I am no fan of Ted Heath’s politics and think that it was a great victory when Mrs. Thatcher defeated him for Conservative Party leader.

Ted Heath was a CINO but the witch hunt’for sex offenders in the UK after the Jimmy Saville revelations has gone way over the top.

Sir Cliff Richard came off a multi year ordeal where his name was tarnished by a false allegation from the 1980’s.

There are some bad guys who were convicted and went to jail like Rolf Harris, but the whole atmosphere of secular sanctimonious self-righteousness is just too much.

The greatest tragedy was when Heath beat out Enoch Powell for control of the Conservative Party.

Sorry, but still sounds funny. Must one of the quirks in my sense of humor.

I did not find any clarity on that.

I’ve always thought Richard was Britain’s “Manilow”.

the whole atmosphere of secular sanctimonious self-righteousness is just too much

The thing is, the people who make the biggest deal out of accusations against their rivals also say they don't believe there's anything really wrong about intergenerational same-sex intimacy. So what's the big deal? Rarely are there accusations of abuse by force ... it's about minors' being paid or persuaded ... which is just what perverts DO, and they are constantly pushing for it to be made legal in all cases.

Seems like they shouldn’t call raping an 11 year old boy “having sex.”

“X would have been questioned if serious accusations had been lodged against X when X were still alive” doesn’t exactly sound like a stop-the-presses material to me.

Name one deceased person X that statement could NOT apply to.

And since it focuses on a hypothetical situation that admittedly did not happen, it is the very definition of fake news.
