Can you, the poster, spare the time to say it’s a 3:43 video about >>>JPs thoughts on the correlation between IQ and Blue Collar career choices?<<<

The copied and pasted title says Lifestyle when it has nothing to do with lifestyle. It has to do with career choices.

That little bit of typing on your part would have taken way less than the 3:43 than it takes people to watch.

In fact it would have taken you less time than your two replies to me!

I do like Jordan but that was one of his more useless videos. Now the one he does in his classroom about the guy with low IQ getting a job stuffing envelopes was priceless. Turns out there’s a lot of variables for that job which the guy had trouble with. Later he gets a dog and after a long battle of wits, he was great with dogs and gets a rewarding job working with them.

I wonder if JP’s got any thoughts on laziness vs IQ?

Don’t know, I wasn’t the one too lazy to watch it.

“So are you saying that people with lower abstraction capacity would do better in work with concrete skills like plumbing, masonry, carpentry, trucking, nursing, etc.”

Yes, Peterson is basically saying that. And he is pointing out that people with lower abstraction levels will be happier and more productive in careers that suit their inherent capabilities. He also reinforces the idea that individuals should pursue the highest ideal of virtue in whatever techne they choose in a career; and we as a culture need to get away from our assumption that high IQ equals morality.

I've never heard Peterson address Obama. In my personal opinion one would have to look less at IQ and more toward personality attributes that tend more towards sociopathy. One who has some degree of innate charisma, who can also lie and deceive without the slightest moral qualm. You would also have to factor in a complicit media structure that constantly elevated him to the status of a deity (and a very gullible public with the attention span of a gnat).

Some of the most immoral and amoral people I know have high IQs.

And all I think of is the German physicians who, in the thirties, killed the mentally and physically handicapped adults and children.

I like Dr. Jordan Peterson, pre-ordered his new book.

I think his message is great but may not quite fit with FreeRepublic since he’s Canadian.
The content that IS very relevant is how social justice is affecting the law and people, an example of what liberals want to do.

Like the Ontario Law Society saying you don’t just have to watch diversity training but you have to write a statement on how you agree with social justice. Violate it, and you lose your law license. This would mean that institutional discrimination against conservatives from admission to college programs seen in both countries escalates to total purges of all but the far left wing.

Or the Alberta couple told “you can’t adopt a baby because you might discriminate against it if it comes out as a homosexual as a teen”.

The communications class teacher dragged in for showing a 3 minute pro and con debate clip with Dr. Jordan Peterson on the forced pronoun issue is most damning. Her sin was not denouncing his views before showing the clip. How dare she present such content neutrally!
Oh, and no right to know who the accusers are or their very number. No right to know the exact charges against you. We think it is transphobic so we’ll call it transphobic and gender based violence, as well. We’ve already determined the penalties, this threatens your career, you’re under tight watch and thrown out if you deviate again.

He’s Canadian. He has had plenty to say on the Canadian bill C-16 - you will use the pronouns transgenders and gender-fluid nuts say to use, backed by fines.

If you don’t accommodate them however they demand accommodation, you can’t go to jail but they refer you to tribunals that ignore due process, the right to know the charges against you, traditional justice. They can demand that you stop speaking, never publish again, pay massive fines, attend lots of mandated training. Refuse their mandates or violate the long list of requirements, it gets referred to criminal courts as a violation of a court order. THEN you can go to jail.

We need to reject liberals’ branding altogether. That if you’re liberal, you are by definition smart, educated and moral.

I’ve had liberal idiots tell me how I seemed smart until I said I was conservative. Uh, you’ve got a social justice degree, I have a degree in engineering. My degree is far harder, and I don’t care if you have a master’s in X, I am more intelligent than you.

The framing of liberal as “educated” is bad for society because liberals use that very definition to justify infecting K-college with liberal indoctrination. It is immoral to them for parents to teach their kids their politics or faith, you should let them decide as adults. But liberals think they should be telling pre-schoolers about liberal sexual politics and repeat it through 12th grade. That’s not proselytizing to them, that’s “education”.
Their ignorance of their own biases is a sin.

“...if you’re liberal, you are by definition smart, educated and moral.”

That's very true. By capturing the language the cultural Marxists have been able to co-opt the very meaning of words such as: smart, intelligent, wisdom. Hitler, Stalin, Mao etc. where probably “smart” in terms of a generalized IQ, but without a foundation built upon virtue and morality, it may serve to make someone infinitely more dangerous.

Thanks for all of your thoughtful replies.

The main purpose I had for posting these videos was to start a conversation.

Not necessarily or specifically about IQ or Conscientiousness, but rather how the post-modernist progressive left are using these characteristics of individuals to advance their Marxist agenda.

IQ is a very stable measurement over a persons life.

Conscientiousness, on the other hand, is malleable and often changes throughout a persons life based on experiences and outside influences.

The left recognizes that they can’t change a persons IQ so they are attempting to make IQ “Relative”. Relative to their conscientiousness which is being defined by their willingness to accept the progressive belief system.

Please understand, in order for the left to advance their social justice agenda they need to destroy much of our collective scientific knowledge and rewrite knowledge/science on different terms.

The new “Knowledge Leaders” on the left will tell us that climate models are more important than actual data. They tell us that gender is fluid and to say otherwise should be punished by the State, not just by peer pressure. They tell us that our history is flawed because it was written by white men. They tell us that all cultures are equal and morality is subjective.

They will tell us that there is no such thing as truth and when you ask them, “Is that true?”, they react with violence and do everything they can to shut down your ability to express a different opinion.

It’s not just about IQ, but the fact that 15% of our population has an IQ of 85 or less and that is like 45 million people.

That fact has become leverage for the left. It’s a really big number that they can and is being used by the left to influence our conscientiousness.

Liberals define words to apply to them and exclude others. So liberals by their own definition say they are smart, kind, moral, rational, educated.
It lets them call everyone else stupid, crazy, evil.
And a lot of dumb people love to be able to say they are smarter and more educated than smart, educated conservatives ... which they gain by joining the liberal tribe.

Exactly why the left must be defeated.

Dennis Prager has a list of things you need at least a graduate degree in liberal arts to believe. I’d say “gender is a construct” has filtered down to the average liberal base, though.
For a lot of liberal arts programs, more time in school is simply more indoctrination. And it rewards those who can come up with more contortions and rationalizations.
It is a reflection of the general trend for high IQ people who are liberal to embrace relativistic ethics, because they can justify ANYTHING with enough effort.

There is definitely a pseudo-spiritual, cult-like element to liberalism. Peterson refers to radical ideologies as “a parasite on a religious substructure” (or words to that effect). David Horowitz has advanced this thesis in his book “Radical Son,” and the philosopher Eric Voegelin has discussed this in numerous books, mainly “Science, Politics and Gnosticism” and “The Political Religions”. All are quite fascinating.
