The American Meteor Society (AMS) took to Twitter on December 7 to confirm that what he saw was in fact, a meteor. AMS received reports from 146 people about the fireball event. The society noted it was primarily visible from Pennsylvania, but eyewitness accounts were also reported from twelve other states: New York, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Delaware, Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Washington, DC.

Orleans reported a sighting, as well:

” I saw a shooting star go by. It blazed a path across the sky ...”

Seriously, though, it’s nice to get substantiation for the flash in the night sky as I drove along route 93 from Boston through Medford. Cool.

Saw one in the mid-late ‘60s going over Rochester, NY in the day time - west to east and landed in some marsh land off Lake Ontario to the NE of the city....looked a lot slower and less angle than the video - probably got 7-8 seconds of viewing time.

(((
Must be a very exclusive organization if the AMS is made up of only one individual.

No. Not really. A couple of weeks ago I went out to the store, the sun had just set. Then I saw a rather big meteor streak across the southern horizon. I was white and looked like a big white ball but no visible tail that I could see. At first glance I thought it was an airplane or helicopter but then realized how big it was and how fast it was moving.

I lost sight of it behind some trees and a building just as it looked like it was breaking apart.

When I got home I checked out the American Meteor Society website to confirm, or rule out that what I had seen was a meteor.

Pretty cool as I wasn’t the only one who had seen it.
