Blunder over new supplier means there's a shortage of chips
Fast food lovers will be tearing their hair out tonight after KFC staff revealed they've had to close branches all over Plymouth tonight.
In a major blow to the fast food chain, KFC has shut the doors of branches in key areas like Union Street, St Budeaux and Crownhill.
Employees have revealed a mix up caused after a new supplier was ushered in has led to NO CHIPS being delivered.
The blunder means staff have had to close up so hungry customers turn up and walk away devastated.
A member of staff at Crownhill confirmed the store was currently closed because of a fries shortage.
Whilst a female colleague in St Budeaux said they were shut and the issue was affecting KFCs all over Plymouth.
Mike Dixon also contacted The Herald's Facebook page to say 'all' KFCs in Plymouth had been shut, claiming there was no more chicken left.
And there's more bad news if you're after a takeaway
Friday night takeaway fans may need to adjust their plans as many Chinese restaurants will be closed tomorrow night.
The city's Chinese community will be celebrating New Year and many will be closed for business.
The start of the lunar year begins in February, and millions of people across the world will be gathering with family to get out the firecrackers and celebrate Chinese New Year.
In August last year, The KFC on Union Street was given a fresh lick of paint as well as a refit inside.
Workers had been on site at the fast food restaurant, on the corner of Martin Street, for the past few weeks revamping the outlet.
The chicken chain reopened on Friday, August 25 after the refurbishment came to an end.
Now the store boasts a trendy new exterior and interior, and fried chicken lovers can eat their grub in style.
In March, a brand new KFC opened on Wolseley Road to replace the smaller one in St Budeaux sqaure.
Why not stay open and put up a sign No Fries
Are they retarded?
Blimey!
People are devastated at the lack of French fries??? Devastated??? Really?????
KFC is really popular in Britain. Really popular.
IIRC there was a time when KFC offered only Mashed Potatoes w/gravy, never mentioning French Fries. Still prefer their Original. The crunchy is nothing but fried batter.
Fights would break out. Better to close completely.
KFC serves fries?
I can’t see that being a major enough part of their business to close down.
Of course, if it was me, I’d be clearing the racks of bags of frozen fries at Sam’s, Costco, BJ’s and every institutional food service place in town.
I mean it’s cut up potatoes. It can’t be that difficult.
Perhaps it’s something different more PR damaging and fries offered a convenient excuse? Since when has KFC been known for their fries.
They have many other sides that are better for you, coleslaw, green beans, etc.
A simple ‘Sorry for the inconvenience’ sign would suffice.............
thanks for the laugh
Oh, this is England.
I guess this is why we won that little dustup in the 1770’s.
Who would fight whom over what?
They have no business running a business!!!!
As posters have commented “PUT A SIGN UP”
The Franchise is Kentucky Fried CHICKEN not spuds or taters or chips!!!!!
“People are devastated at the lack of French fries??? Devastated??? Really?????”
This generation is effing weak.
My last trip to our local KFC/Taco Bell
Me : I’d like a 3 piece dinner.
KFC: You want Original, Extra Crispy, or Baked?
Me: Original, please
KFC: We are out of Original.
Me: OK, give me Extra Crispy
KFC: We are out of Extra Crispy
Me: OK, give me 3 hard shell tacos.
KFC: We are out of taco meat.
Me: says FU and drives away.
This actually happened
Its probably some stupid EU law thats says if youre not serving everything on the menu then youre hurt the consumers and they can sue you into oblivion.
(Or maybe the restaurants are Chinese owned?)
Will KFC ever recover from this disaster?
Why don't they just substitute mushy peas?
