I have been following the TIANGONG 1 on satview and it just started flashing. It went from time to reenter to re-entry window. Could change though but this is the first time I have watched it go into a re-entry window.
Tin foil covered hard hats on!!
No argument there. The issue is one of communicating values of measure to a nation of 320 million people who think and speak in Imperial measures.
You may as well be speaking in Greek or Latin.

BREAKING: China says Tiangong-1 space station re-entered the atmosphere over the South Pacific Ocean; most of the spacecraft was destroyed during re-entry
Sounds slow.
A Boss Hogg speed trap could catch that....
2.12: Tiangong-1 begins re-entry into the Earths atmosphere
The now defunct Chinese space station began its descent at 1.30am GMT.
However, it is worth noting that The Aerospace Corporation estimate could have a margin of error of 1.7 hours plus or minus.
The corporation declared: “Chances that space debris will hurt anybody are extremely slim, although when and where the space station’s remains will land is still unknown.”
Michigan dodged a bullet!!
I still get confused by my metric wrenches. My Jeep is part metric and part Imperial measurements. Hard to change the oil.
Classic scenes from a classic movie.
This whole re-entry thing was a DUD.
Rarge wereef!
Darn, I missed it. I saw a Russian, I should say Soviet, satellite re-enter the atmosphere back in August of 1969 one night while camping at 9,000 feet in the mountains. It was spectacular, looked like the full Moon crashing to Earth at high speed.
Have more appreciation for the always-useful poundmeter per second squared.
I live in Mexico, and was hoping to get a piece of scrap to sell on eBay.
Probably not everyone in Michigan...
Yeah, but Buck Rogers was cooler
That would be cool. I have seen two really big shooting stars and many smaller ones. It is awe inspiring when you watch a bright object streak across the sky!
I got to see a fireball a few years ago. Green-yellow flames in daylight, slowly (to my eye) moving across the sky from west to east. No sound. People thought it was a plane on fire and reported it to police/fire. Looked like it was maybe 1000 ft up, it was in reality 100 miles up. Very spectacular.
Came down north of Tahiti
Kersplash! Michigan can stand down now.
LOL... GMTA. Told my wife if it crashed here I would put on my hazmat suit and drag it into the garage and then sell the SOB on eBay. Yes I actually have hazmat suits. I was not calling a diplomat and letting them have it. No way. Would have multi VPNed and set up an eBay site and sold pieces and parts. If the Chinese wanted any part of it back they were welcome to bid.
Wished it could all be our units of measurements. Based on logic though the metric system of measurements is based on units of tens. Its keeps the decimal units uniform either in ascending or descending direction.
