BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A man and woman from central Florida are facing charges after their 8-month-old baby overdosed on drugs, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities arrested 29-year-old David Williams Chappele Jr. and 27-year-old Jessica Marie Strickland of Cocoa on charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child.
The investigation began in September when deputies responded to a call about an unresponsive baby at a home in Cocoa. The baby died later at the hospital. The medical examiner, according to the sheriff's office, said the baby died from an overdose of cocaine and fentanyl.

I’m sure there are some who will find her “Not Guilty” when they see her picture.
No, the baby did not overdose himself. Stupid reporter tricks, again. The monsters did it to him. They killed him. May they rot in prison forever.
Her mugshot is nothing but haunting.
Like someone who’s just realized her drug habit killed her baby?
Death penalty would be justified as far as I am concerned.
Another reason to EXECUTE drug dealers, and others who cause death by drugs.

I'm guessing "caring for the infant" means breastfeeding. Doesn't sound like it was deliberate, just stupid. But then junkies aren't known for sound judgement.
Slow down a bit, they are only being charged manslaughter. They will likely be out in less than 5 years, not the 75 years we all would like to see.
I can’t quite figure how the cocaine happened?
And fentanyl patch they leached from mom to infant?
Usually folks cut them to chew them or heat them with water and fire the dope up or heat hem with hair dryer for quicker absorption

More likely she just realized she wouldn’t be able to get high for awhile.
I’d like to see them out in 5 years and devote the rest of their lives to speaking out
to help prevent others from making the same damnable mistake.
If they have any conscience at all and their mug shots give an indication they do,
they will be under a living internal prison sentence for the rest of their lives.

Tanner also ingested cocaine as Strickland was using the drug while caring for the baby, deputies said. The child teethed on his mother’s fingers, which had cocaine residue on them, the affidavit states.”
