WICHITA COUNTY, Texas The Taylor County Sheriffs Office got quite a surprise Thursday afternoon when a prisoner escaped from a patrol car while the arresting deputy was driving down an interstate highway.
The entire incident was captured on video shot by Jennifer Mustain and later posted to Facebook.
Martin Estrada, 31, was reportedly being transported from the Red River facility in Wichita Falls to a center in Abilene when the inmate managed to free one of his hand from handcuffs and then shatter the rear passenger window of the patrol vehicle. Estrada demanded the deputy pull over or the suspect would kill himself, according to deputies.
When the officer refused, Estrada allegedly climbed out the window and onto the roof of the patrol car!

That’s not safe........................
“...not safe...”
Definite Darwin award client.
So he just keeps driving?!
He waited for back up which arrives at the 3 minute mark.
So is/was Martin Estrada, 31, an American Citizen or an undocumented one, aka an illegal from Mexico!
Pump bullets through the damn roof.
Romney’s dog approves of this video.
“So he just keeps driving?!”
I suppose he could have stopped suddenly from 70mph.
But seriously, where is the guy going to go? Just keep going and wait for backup. Otherwise the guy might be able to run away.
“Pump bullets through the damn roof.”
Or just tap your brakes.
Slam on the brakes then SHOOT.
Also bear in mind, he could see the car filming him following close. If he stops on a lonely west Texas road, he has to consider that the car behind him might be rescuers, armed and ready to attack when he stops.
So he sensibly drives along at a prudent speed as backup approaches.
good point
Was not really anywhere to run too judging by the scenery. He would have just made himself a PITA if he had run and that’s about it.
Or hit the brakes. There was a squirrel in the road.
The police officer did the right thing. Its just would be funnier if he hit the brakes.
That’ll work.
“Was not really anywhere to run too judging by the scenery. He would have just made himself a PITA if he had run and thats about it.”
Depends on how fat the cop is.
Never run from a fat cop. They just shoot ya and call it an apprehension.
