You were hot stuff if you had a bicycle. Even hotter if you could ride with no hands while checking your iPhone.
The women in the light dresses look very feminine.
And the moving sidewalk was cool.

One of the few similarities between then and now. There is still no shortage of idiots on bicycles trying to commit suicide in traffic.

Megatons of horse manure, everywhere. Yeah, I noticed that too. Usually the viewer misses that when viewing old movies but this one was set at a slower speed plus the images were quite sharp. Paris was beautiful...but must have also stunk of horse manure.

Very interesting; thanks for posting.
There was a scene that looked like people on a moving sidewalk. How extraordinary for that time period! Do you know anything about it?

It may have been part of the Exposition Universelle of 1900 which is also seen around the 1 minute mark with people promenading.

This video looks like the calm before the storm. World War I set in motion the full-fledged destruction of Europe and its culture that we are witnessing today. It unleashed so many destructive evils - from modernist and nihilist thought, to Marxism, to central banking and fiat money.

Horse manure, flies on everything, contaminated water, no germ theory of disease, and an unsatisfactory answer to “Where is the bathroom?” most of the time.
However, it’s true that the people were tidily dressed (if not clean). I think it would be nice if we could have modern sanitation *and* tidy standards of dress in public.

The manure issue was one of the reasons public health advocates of the time urged the adoption of motor vehicles. Today’s environmentalist wackos are too unread to know that.
