Does it show McCain’s GF, an Admiral? He was there. Died a week later.
My mother-in-law actually lived through the bombing of Osaka and my former pastor was going to become a kamikaze before the surrender.
The Americans did and excellent thing in forcing the emperor to surrender. The Japanese instantly realized he was just a human.

Obama wanted to apologize to the Japanese for droppings atomic bombs on them to end the war when he was POTUS. The Japanese told him not to apologize.
Gives you an idea of how far we fell as a country to have that idiot as our elected ‘leader.’

I was so moved standing on the Arizona Memorial, next to where Big Mo was docked. This is an excellent film of the surrender.
After visiting the ARIZONA Memorial I visited the nearby MISSOURI. Never have I been so moved as I paused over the plaque commemorating the surrender sight. To stand there on the very spot where so many giants of WWII stood as they accepted Japan’s surrender was awesome. Even though I did my part during Vietnam, growing up in the 50’s exposed me to many WWII movies and the Victory at Sea tv show and instilled in me a reverence for the sacrifices of my father and his generation that I never equated to my own contribution. I highly recommend visiting the Mighty Mo.
Did you know that the surrender document was sent by radio facsimile? That was in 1945.
Did you know the Nation of Japan never surrendered? Only the Japanese Armed Forces surrendered. And popular myth notwithstanding, they only surrendered the military on the condition that the Emperor be allowed to remain as titular head of state.
So it was anything but an “unconditional” surrender. But being as our government then was infested with demoncrats, you should expect nothing but lies from them, even 73 years ago.
Seems like I remember someone telling me that, but I’m not sure.
I knew they kept the Emperor.

My mother’s brother served aboard the Missouri and was present at the surrender ceremony. He never talked about it. I wish he was still alive so I could ask him about it.
My uncle George was on a minesweeper (The USS Harper) that was the first ship into Tokyo Bay after hostilities ceased. They went in to sweep for mines before the Missouri came in. I asked him a few years ago about it and he said they were all scared when they did it. He said there were tons of guns around the harbor and that the they were worried that the Japanese would “change their minds”. The bay was surrounded by thousands of people watching them come in. I asked what that was like and he said “Well Clayton, as you can imagine, they all looked really pissed off”. That was my dear Uncle George who passed away last summer at the age of 95.
It's an interesting debate....should the Allies have forced the Emperor to have resigned?
The War was essentially won. Was it the right call to let the Emperor remain or should the Allies have insisted on his removal and be faced with having to invade Japan and face the inevitable casualties that were avoided by allowing him to remain?
General MacArthur has a different opinion on how unconditional the surrender really was, though I agree with the part about Democrat lies!

When Roosevelt died, Harry Truman became President. As the war was winding down, and the preparation for the Jap surrender was in the planning stage, Truman ordered MacArthur to transfer his flag and all his HQ from the USS New Jersey to the USS Missouri. (Truman was from Missouri).He wanted the surrender to be on the ship named for his home state. The transfer of MacArthur's HQ included a leather sofa, oriental rugs, a bar and a radio."
