James Karen, Actor in 'Poltergeist' and So Much More, Dies at 94

James Karen, the instantly recognizable character actor who moved the cemeterys headstones but not the bodies as the developer Mr. Teague in the modern horror classic Poltergeist, has died. He was 94.
The incredibly prolific Karen, who also was noteworthy in such films as The China Syndrome (1979) and The Return of the Living Dead (1985) and on the finale of NBCs Little House on the Prairie hes the dastardly reason the town of Walnut Grove was blown up died Tuesday at his Los Angeles home, his wife, Alba, said.

Enjoyed his work. He was actually encouraged by a Congressman (Dan Flood of PA) to go into acting. Good advice. RIP, Mr. Karen.

Absolutely. He was one of those guys who I saw on seemingly on every major TV show in the ‘70s and ‘80s, and yet I didn’t know his name.

I watched Wall Street for the umpteenth time yesterday. James was “Mr. Lynch”, Bud Fox’s boss at “Jackson Steinem”. A very fine actor. R.I.P.
