REVERE — Prosecutors say the 42-year-old Boston woman who allegedly struck five pedestrians with her SUV on Route 145 Sunday night, killing a 5-year-old girl and critically injuring a 2-month-old infant, may have been impaired from a combination of beer, sleep medication, and CBD oil.

The 5-year-old girl has been identified as Adrianna Mejia-Rivera, a student at an undisclosed elementary school in Revere.

Autumn Harris pleaded not guilty to charges of motor vehicle homicide and negligent operation of a motor vehicle in Chelsea District Court on Monday. Harris was held on $10,000 bail and ordered to remain drug- and alcohol-free if she posts that amount, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

It’s basically Cannabinoid Oil (no THC).

It doesn’t get you high, just kills pain and helps you sleep well. Some places say it helps kill anxiety and suppresses seizures.

CBD oil is not psychoactive. That's one of its strongest selling points.

a combination of beer, sleep medication, and CBD oil.

How the heck was she able to get the car in gear with that combo in her?

How did she even manage to get to the car?

CBD oil has only a very tiny amount of THC. You can cook your fries in it and not get high.

Title was edited to fir [sic!] (”Revere” was removed).

My only question is: Why do FReepers shorten titles by removing significant words, rather than by removing completely unessential words?

For example:

Revere crash suspect may have been impaired from a combination of beer, sleep medication, and CBD oil

Here, all of the keywords (for which one might perform an automatic search) have been preserved.

Regards,

may have been impaired from a combination of beer, sleep medication, and CBD oil.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, this woman suffered from chronic pain.

Even so, a 42 year old woman must have heard all the warning about driving while impaired.

She may have been living with pain but that doesn't excuse her for drinking, drugging, and driving.

She deserves the maximum.

But..but...legalizing pot has no disadvantages...

No one - literally: No one - has ever argued that here.

They have rather argued that:

The benefits (reduced incarceration of otherwise law-abiding citizens who only want to enjoy a God-given natural substance / lessening of State power to conduct a "War on Drugs" and focus on important crimes) outweigh the potential disadvantages (possible abuse).

No one here would argue that this woman shouldn't be prosecuted for Driving Under the Influence. She was impaired, people have died, and that is all entirely her fault.

But the mere possession of or use of a recreational drug - even one with potential side-effects (CBD oil, alcohol, etc.) - should not be criminalized.

The danger of misuse of any substance (a bottle of wine, a joint, a knife, or a gun) should not be employed as an argument for its criminalization.

Not the vaping part, but I’ve looked into CBD oil (drops under the tongue) to help with inflammation, anxiety, high blood pressure and an autoimmune disorder. My son uses a THC free form of it created for athletes.

From what I’ve read, you can’t get high from what’s legally available. Perhaps there is an illicit form that is high in THC.

CBD oil is not the same as medical marijuana. It's made from a different plant.

There are different kinds of CBD oil. It can have 0% thc in it, which would make it safe as a medication for children even, or it can indeed have a small % of thc in it. It will be so labeled.

However, even CBD oil with no psychoactive ingredients can make you fatigued or sleepy.

Not a great combo with sleeping pills and booze.

The drops under the tongue can really help with chronic conditions, but like all herbs, you simply must keep taking the drops for months (best before bed) before you will notice the benefits. It needs to build up in your system. It took 3-4 months for me to have the # of migraines dramatically drop. One good thing about it, is that once you are on an nightly regimen, since it has built up in you, you can run out of it for a week or so with no drop in relief. Herbal medicine is not like western pop it and pain’s gone kind of medicine.

CBD oil can be made from hemp, but it is best when made from cannabis. It depends which is legal in your area. If the condition is serious (say, cancer) I’d make an effort to get cannabis CBD.

beer, sleep medication

But of course it was the CBD oil that did it - beer and sleep medication make you a better driver.

CBD is C21H30O2 regardless of where it comes from. Also, it isn’t “made”, it is extracted.

Cannabidiol comes from Cannabis sativa, either the hemp or marijuana varieties. No difference. It is the other stuff that differs.

Mixing Alcohol and pharmacuticals is not a good combination for safely operating an automobile. Heck the warning is on the lable(s) /s .
Sad the young girl died due to the woman’s idiocy.
