Does anyone who flies in the U.S. look forward to going through a TSA security line? You could probably make good money in Vegas by putting all your chips on No. You can make the TSA security line experience easier on yourself, however, just by taking a few simple steps.
1. Even if you fly only a couple times a year, itll be worth it to you to apply for the Transportation Security Administrations Precheck program. It costs $85, is good for five years and requires an application and background check, but nothing else comes remotely close to getting you through TSA airport security at top speed and with no additional examination.
2. If you travel with a carry-on bag, do whatever you can to make it easy for TSA security officers to see everything in it on their x-ray machines. Cluttered carry-ons almost always lead to a further examination by explosive trace detection machines.
3. Dont go through a TSA security line wearing a bunch of jewelry. The agency uses metal detectors for the most part to screen travelers, and metals trigger them. The same goes for belts with metal buckles as well as shoes with steel-reinforced soles. Heres a rule: Travel for comfort, not for the disco.

I find that if one just bobs their head back and forth while mumbling “Alahu Akbar, death to infidels”, slowly getting louder, helps the process immensely.
Better:
Sane immigration policies, no chain immigration, no amnesty, etc.
“Make Getting Through TSA Easy on Yourself”
I solved that...quit flying years ago. FTS.
I fly a lot for business, sometimes globally.
1. Get pre-check
2. Understand what clothing and accessories set off even the pre-check body scans (had to STOP wearing my fave cowboy boots)
3. Get Global Entry (45 seconds to clear US customs, yep, really)
4. Enroll in CLEAR.
5. Don’t be a noob - observe the process — be a grey man in the line.
Following those 5 rules, the TSA/ Customs is never an issue for me. Ever.
In before the “I will never fly again!” crowd.
Then you don't NEED internal borders manned by the very same aliens who you're trying to defend against.

I hardly ever fly anymore.
For work, I'll drive to any destination that I can reach within 18 hours by car.
For vacation, I'll drive to any destination that has a road going to it -- no matter how long it takes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! One time, I told a joke to them. I said “Hey, we gotta get the airport cops over to that gate (I pointed at a gate near the checkpoint).”
TSA people: “Why?”
Me: “There’s a little old lady over there knitting an Afghan!”
For some reason, they didn’t think it was very funny. ;-)
CLEAR doesn’t have enough locations yet. They are still in Terminal E here at DFW which does me no good at all.
I had clear and never used it for 3 years so I let it lapse.
No question if you used GE even ONCE it pays for itself.
Note: my travel wardrobe includes plastic belts so I don’t set off the metal detector nor have to take them off for airports that either don’t have Pre Check or has it shut down all the time (yes, Newark and DCA I am talking about you).

Being serious for a moment, those are exactly the same things I do. “Be a gray man.” Works great. Also works great if you’re a CCW, believe me.
Yep. Drive or train. I liked flying (last time was 1993) but I refuse to pay that much to be treated that badly.
What’s to stop a jihadi from going through the process and becoming a “trusted” passenger? Then he yells allahu akhbar and goes to get his 72 never-defiled virgins.
” The same goes for belts with metal buckles as well as shoes with steel-reinforced soles.”
Hard to take this article serious. When did they start letting you wear shoes through TSA check point... even with the TSA expre$$ ticket?”
I go through TSA all the time wearing my loafers. They don’t have steel shanks. So I know the won’t trip the “mags.” They’ve never asked me to put my shoes in one of those tubs.

From what I understand, the background check is a bit involved. It’s not nearly as easy as getting an airport woker’s access badge, LOL! (Though that’s also pretty sad, how easy it is to get one of those...)
I never go through that “hands up, don’t shoot” scanner. My favorite part of going through security is getting felt up by a complete stranger.
It wasn’t even TSA that got me started on this. I just realized one day that a three-hour flight was basically a 6+ hour travel ordeal ... so the combination of the wasted time and the major inconvenience of being subject to the whims of a flight schedule and airline operations made it silly to fly to most destinations within a day’s drive.
