The Cats trailer has received more online criticism for the CGI 'whitewashing' of its black female lead in the live-action film. Francesca Hayward, 27, who plays the main character in the adaptation is seen pirouetting and frolicking with a white face of fur in the clip released on Thursday. Fans believe Hayward's feline form should have been portrayed using fur to match her natural skin tone. Despite the character being named 'Victoria the White' in Andrew Lloyd Webber's original musical, some believe they could have easily changed the 'arbitrary point.'

Miss Hayward is bi-racial with an English father. To be 100% accurate she should be a tuxedo cat.
Do all these people freak out when she plays the White Swan instead of the Black Swan for “Swan Lake”?
To a great many “people of color” their color is the most important thing. Now they want fur color to match skin color. Color me not surprised.

Where I live, the ghetto types all drive beat up BLACK cars and the only dogs they have (if they have them) are BLACK. I do not think it is accidental.

EVERY character has to be black, Asian, or "diverse" now, even when the original book/story/play/musical/movie that says otherwise. Don't you people know this by now!

If we were living in the middle of a severe depression or a horrible epidemic, nobody would be worried about something so silly. Thanks to the wonderful values created by white people, the worst problem in the world right now is costumes and make up in CATS.
