A nine-year-old girl visiting Yellowstone National Park has been struck and thrown into the air by a charging bison.
The girl, from Odessa, Florida, was in a group of roughly 50 people who were standing near the bison for about 20 minutes in the Old Faithful Geyser area on Monday before it charged, Yellowstone officials said in a written statement.
Wild video shows the large beast grazing before it begins pacing toward the girl and two adults.

In the future, if abortion is ever illegal, parents will just bring their children to yellowstone and parade them in front of the wildlife.
Ignorant parents - ought to have the child taken away for abandoning her.
Way to go, mom & dad!
“Run, honey!”
“What about Lisa?”
“Save yourself; we can always have another kid, but you’re irreplaceable.”
Ignorant city people have to learn the hard way.
Don’t mess with the rabbits either.
The comments at the link run along the same vein.
There’s not a person who is defending the parents.
Not a funny thing but a funny comment to add, old story of two guys being confronted by a large Male gruzzly in the woods, one guys says “how do we outrun this thing?”. Other guy says, “we dont, I just have to outrun you”.
The bulls in bullfights are triggered by the motion of the cape, not the color. It is only red to add color to the show. It might as well be turquoise.
grizzly not gruzzly. Damned fat thumb disease.
Flat landers go to Disney World and their kid is ‘gator bait, Florida Man takes the family to Jellystone and the kid gets flipped by a bison. Everyone’s living in a Nerf world, where nothing can hurt you. Until it does.
Nice form on the girl’s part.
Stuck it on the landing.
Aside from the bruises where the bison nailed her, I can see why she was not injured.
If she had landed on her head or in some other position, she would have been badly injured.
I sure hope those parent as proud of their behavior, videoed for posterity so everyone can see what cowards they were and what poor runners they were. Terrible form.
On a side note, anyone else notice any article on dailymail.co.uk takes about 5 minutes to fully load, and when its all done you’ve about 6 square inches of view-able content surround by ads?
That’s what I was alluding to.
I didn’t have that problem.
People in cities grow up in and around traffic and are able to make intelligent decisions on what is and what is not safe behavior (occasionally someone makes a bad decision and they are hurt or killed).
Visitors in a National Park usually have NO experience with wild life (especially the size of a Bison). The only experience they may have is in the safe confines of a zoo.
So here they are in a National Park and there are hundreds (if not thousands) of Bisons just wandering around.
You are a tourist waiting for Old Faithful when a Bison wanders by. What do you do?
A. Run screaming from the area shouting “he is going to kill me”
B. Stand still and let it pass (as all previous ones did)?
C. Walk up to it and try and pet it?
D. Or slowly back away from it?
Visitors to the National Parks are not STUPID as some implied they are merely ignorant. They have no experience or knowledge to base a decision on.
Maybe a better solution would be to have a park ranger watching over an area where spectators and bison come together such as at Old Faithful.
(Actually I have a photo of myself standing next to the Old Faithful sign with a Bison walking past me in the background).
Anyway this is just my opinion I am sure you will have a different one.
I prefer buffalo meat to beef. In 1991, when I was in Denver, Colo., I sought out a butcher shop that had buffalo meat and bought some to take home to California, where I served it for our Christmas dinner. Nowadays, you can get buffalo meat at the local supermarket.
Stupid parents indeed.
Another article I read on this story says they were actually petting the bison.
Last time we were there, we saw two different groups of people trying to get close to a pretty large herd crossing one of the roads. There must be a genetic urge among some to do their part to cull the human herd of stupidity.
“I don’t have to run faster than the buffalo, just faster than you”.
Yep. There are no consequences in unicorn world. Then reality hits you in the face and that unicorn is a 1000 pound bison with two horns.
Dad said,Watch kids, youre about to see a man die.
Mom snapped at Dad,Oh Bill, dont say that!
The bull charged, the guy dove through the the window of his truck, the Bull hit the door of the truck, leaving a huge dent.
That was so cool! came from the back seat of the car.
Mom seemed mad for the next hour.
