I believe the real reason is more due to the "viral" aspect of social media. It boils down to certain people wanting to be a star. Good or bad, if it makes them "famous", it's all worth it.
And it's so easy to do. I realized this a couple years back when I found it was easier to post my vacation videos to YouTube using my phone and send out a link to family and friends than it was to distribute some other way.
So the barrier of entry (to post a video and make it pubic to all) is minimal. Anybody can do it and it requires almost no skill.
Now literally millions of videos are posted to YouTube every single day so in order to get noticed, you have to be either a) very talented or b) very shocking.
So if you don't have any worthwhile talents to become noticed for, there is always the option of doing something shocking and go viral that way. Like I said earlier, some people are willing to become famous for doing a despicable act. To them, it's better than not being famous at all.
What I say with regard to food tampering is that we should catch them and lock them up for a very long period of time.
One has to wonder what crazy things a liberal does when no one is around.Cave dwellers don’t even do that sort of thing.
Some people are just disgusting...I’ve read news articles or TV video reports of employees who spit in your food if you complain they got your order wrong, places like Burger King and McDs...
I talked to a cop one day when I was doing a demo. Handing out samples of a new ice cream, Blue Bunny, at a local grocery store. While the cop (moonlighting as a security guard) took a smoke break I did too.
He told me one day he was watching the store when a very large, seriously overweight black woman came to the register. He had been watching her and was sure she was shoplifting, he walked over and touched her arm and said “Ma’am”...that startled her and a full size frozen ham fell on the floor from between her legs. Look how big one of those things is...and frozen...and she walked around the store with it between her legs???
I said tell me you DIDN’T put it back on the shelf...he almost doubled over laughing and said not no but hell no.
Another day doing a demo in a local Wal Mart I watched the store security follow a mid 20s black guy outside in a jogging suit, the manager almost trotting behind them. Later I found out he had tried to steal over $220 in merchandise, including a car battery and pair of tennis shoes just sitting in the shopping cart he pushed out the door. After they took him upstairs, he was still pulling things out of his pockets. Fishing reels, lures, make up, cheap jewelry, I can’t remember what else...some of it stuffed inside his underwear...
Store security and cops watching, cameras everywhere and they still try it. Most stores have plainclothes security too, they walk around and pretend to be shopping. I knew two of them. You’d never know it unless you knew them and knew what their job was. Just walk around pushing a shopping cart with 3 or 4 miscellaneous items in it, look at various items now and then, read the labels...and the whole time they are actually watching YOU like a hawk if they suspect you are up to no good. Anyone in really loose clothes, loose oversize coats in winter, acting nervous...I know they are there and cannot pick them out when I go in a wally world. Which is not often, I hate the place...
