You should try the razors. One pull with the grain, and your face is smooth. With the Jill-ettes I had to run with and against the grain a few times to get a smooth shave.

It is indeed an accounting thing only. When they bought Gillette they paid more than the property and equipment is worth. In the accounting statements they include the value of property and equipment so how do they show that extra they paid? They are something called “goodwill”. It sits on the books forever as a fake asset just there to balance the books because you overpaid ( based on the book value of the stuff in the business you bought). The only way to get rid of it is to depreciate it slowly away over years or write it all off in one big hit. They decided to take one big hit and save taxes as a result.

I want this to be a great schadenfreud moment but I don’t think it really is. But I’m not a CPA, just a guy who took an accounting class 20 years ago so I could easily be wrong.

Gillette’s CEO and president, Gary Coombe, is an idiot. Business is business and the board of directors should fire and sue him for 5B. And then they need to go after the other leadership at Gillette including their SJW Female President of Marketing who came up with this fiasco.

I needed razor blades so I bought $20 for Schick razor blades.

Maybe people should boycott at Gillette Stadium this fall.

It’s just Proctor & Gamble living up to its logo.

I’m done w/ their products. Hard to avoid, though, given everything they own.

Best thing to do is buy private label, as store brands are kicking branded products ass. This about groceries, but same applies to HBO products: “Store Brands Cut Into Big Food”

I now go out of my way to not buy their products.

Same here. I was a customer since the friday night fights which they advertised on. No longer, and I am not coming back. PandG is one of those SJW companies. Good for them. If I could find something better than Tide, I’d use it too.

They’re not stupid.

You’re right...probably 99% of men just shave their faces, and a blade can be used a few times. Women, on the other hand have hair growing in every orifice of their bodies as well as under arms, legs, etc. A blade has a much shorter life when a woman is using it. New marketing campaign possibly in the horizon.

I told Gillette to go pound sand years ago when I finally got fed up with high prices and razor burn. I went old school with a Merkur 34C double-edged safety razor, Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood shaving cream and Wilkinson Sword DE razors. Great shaves and I no longer spend a fortune.

Persil is better than Tide. About the same cost. A local TV station tested them and Persil is better.

I have been using it for maybe six months and can tell a difference. Tide has recently come out with a new formula. I have no idea how good it is.
