Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be walking away from an estimated £5.5 million in Royal funds after they announced they would be 'stepping back' from their duties as senior Royals in a bid to become 'financially independent'.
But just how do the couple, who have an estimated combined net worth of £34 million, fund their lavish lifestyle which in the past has included their six-week Christmas break to Canada and solo trips to the US, such as when Meghan flew to America to watch Serena Williams play tennis.
In terms of what the couple receive from the Royal household, it is thought that the Queen gives around £2 million to Prince Harry from the Crown.
Her Majesty pays Harry and William jointly £5 million from the £82 million annual Sovereign Grant, which is funded by the taxpayer, and handed to the most senior members of the royal family.

How did they get $34 million?
Move to New York City and you’ll get taxed for more than you have.
Most of it as Harry’s inheritance for his mother and some from his grandmother. The Royals and many of the aristocrats, for example, the Spencers, have extensive land holdings and other investment holdings they can draw income from.
How did they get that much money? Fulfilling their royal duties? (Smiling for the cameras.)
The monarchy is outdated. The French had the right idea.
With their lifestyle, 34 million of anything won’t last long, will it?

Something like that. Wife obviously must think she can cash in and make more than 5.5 million if she doesn’t have to follow all the strict rules that come with being a “Senior royal”.

$45 MM @ 5% interest generates $2.25 MM a year. Whether that is enough to satisfy Meghan is another question.
34 million at 2% return like the rest of us mortals would give them $680,000 of income.
But the Brits love their Royals. It's their country, and their taxes, so c'est la vie.

Yikes. I don’t see $2.25 million lasting them a year.
Renovating their residence cost a bit over $3 million.
And I surely don’t see Megan purchasing a house without completely renovating it.
Why do so many in the U.S. care about these people we fought a war to free ourselves from? If they don’t like the U.K. they should go back to Germany, where they came from.
The two of them are total jerks. They make Wallace Simpson and whatever his name was look like paragons of virtue.
The Royal Family should pay them to stay away.
