Well in Saudi when I was there, one “treatment” for MERS was drinking camel piss.
Even though they thought camels were the non human reservoir of the virus.

The Iranians I met in college believed in magic. It was like talking to someone who was younger than seven. They believed, for example, if they said something that it became true, despite all the evidence to the contrary. If they told you a lie they would stick to it, regardless of whether you could show them it was a lie. It was one of the most important things I learned in college. All cultures ARE NOT alike.
And we wonder why they can have nuclear energy...?

After reading news stories about the Corona virus in Iran, I have concluded that for every medical problem that country has, the mullahs offer and practice a solution that is wrong, even for those of us who have not had any medical training.
The Marquis de Volney, a European traveler who visited Egypt in the eighteenth century, wrote that local doctors were only expected to know how to bleed and cauterize a wound, and that natives consulted even the valets of European visitors for their medical knowledge “as if they were Aesculapius.” For those who don’t have a classical education, Aesculapius was the Greek god of healing. It looks like in Iran, those days are back.

In my small Southern state we have no Muslim problem (cowed by all us armed redneck Bible thumpers) and the Hispanics are mostly seen in Lowe’s buying construction supplies. Our race relations are better than most people think since we’re all Christians (”Have a blessed day!” is the usual farewell).
We’re armed to the teeth & gun-related billboards abound. Sick to death with the all-cultures-are-equal-except-ours-which-sucks garbaaage on CNN & MSNBC.
The culture war is going to turn violent this summer like it did in 1968 and for the same reason: Democrats.
I feel range time coming on. Forget shooting stands, practice defensive fire from one’s vehicle, both moving and stopped.

I have been amongst a ‘certain people’ in the ME and some of them were straight up savages. They have the mentality and desires of a neanderthal and are very happy where they are in their middle ages living situation as a sub human caveman.
