It was all Churchill could do to keep them out of Greece. Italy would have been next if Greece had fallen.

China infecting the place with its Chinese Colony there .
China have been embedded there in the garment
district where the China virus broke out first .Media kept that quiet .
China has other Italian colonies working on infrastructure programs .
China is treating its own people there .
I wonder is China sneaking them out by charters like here .

Putin is an idiot to further expose his military to this virus. It is one thing to have military already in the area who can help, but this is short-sighted on his part.

[Spot on mate. Filthy democrats just using Russia as a straw man weapon for domestic politics. The bastards. We should be tight allies and friends with Putin/Russia.]

Democrats are using the Russians as a straw man because they actually like the Russians and don’t see them as a threat, except in terms of influence-buying. They don’t mind Russians helping them out as they’ve done for a century, but get up in arms about Russians helping the GOP.

Republicans see the Russians as a threat for the same reason that the French and the Brits allied with the Ottomans - Russian land hunger at the expense of its neighbors is longstanding and current. Not resisting Russian territorial expansion is to risk becoming a Russian oblast at some point in the future. The reason Russia is an issue is because it’s located next to Europe, the most economically productive region in the world. The addition of Europe to the Russian empire would make it irresistible as a military power.

The Democratic vs Republican response to expansive Russian ambitions is very clear about the fact that Democrats don’t consider Russia a genuine threat - Republicans act, while Democrats talk. Democrats whine about election interference. Republicans tear up arms control treaties. Democrats criticize Putin’s remarks about gays. Republicans match the Russian nuclear buildup. Democrats whine about Syrian Alawites gassing their Sunni Arab blood enemies. Republicans kill hundreds of Russian mercenaries in self-defense.

Cuba has been sending doctors to Italy for many years. Cuba pays to have their docs trained in modern medicine there.

> Today the number of coronovirus deaths in Italy is 793. This is serious.

I don’t doubt the seriousness of the situation but there seems to be something different about the way Italy attributes deaths to the virus. Repeated reports have 99% of the dead with one or more pre-existing serious conditions, but these reports are exclusive to Italy.

Once you get a foreign army on your soil, it’s hard to get them out.

I looked at Russian forums. There is a vocal minority that agree with you or state that Russian resources should not be wasted on people who are not in any way allies, but most support his action fully.

Personally, I do not think there is a huge risk -- these are highly trained specialists in bio-warfare. They have tested protocols. And many of them went through Wuhan too... more training is good for them. It is likely but not guaranteed that Russia itself can hold the infection on the borders forever.

Taking advantage of an opportunity to infiltrate, The Russian government sent their own citizens and military in to clean up cheyrnoble and never told them of the dangers so with that being said this is a piece of cake

Hmmmmmmm. I think you should pay a little more attention to what we are doing. Glass houses and all that....

==============================================================================

The CDC designed a flawed test for COVID-19, then took weeks to figure out a fix so state and local labs could use it. New York still doesn’t trust the test’s accuracy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Effective immediately, people in Sacramento County should not quarantine themselves if they've been exposed to the COVID-19. Instead, they should go into isolation only if they begin to show symptoms of the respiratory virus, the county's health department says."

"The decision of what steps to implement will be local," Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said last week. She added, "CDC's role is to provide technical advice to states and counties."

Yes, this is a real problem which will lead to many additional deaths. Not closing the borders in time and not tracing the arrivals was a much worse error. Not all.

Basically with additional economic problems that are certain to materialize and the media which will emphasize the problems, we should be expecting the rats winning the elections and controlling both chambers. Of course not because they would have done any better.....

Think Pooty-Poot’s trying to bring back the old Soviet Union, using capitalism mixed w/ communism, like China? He’s got some reason to extend help, and gaining a foothold.

I also notice that you did not provide a link to you're cherry picked posting and omitted a key paragraph as if to paint Russia in bad light. You don't have a vendetta against them for our DOJ dropping all of Mueller's phony indictments against the Russians for interfering with our 2016 election, do you?

=====================================================================

Omitted Paragraph:

"The Russian government is aware of the issue and is preparing to launch a second test to act as a control for the first, Kurinny, the lawmaker, told ABC News. He said he was also worried Russia is only testing a "very narrow" group, confined largely to those arriving from countries deemed as hotspots for the virus and who show symptoms."

WTF???
Russia has always been our enemy! True there was a period in the 90s when Americans went on tours thru Russia but that murderous Putin took over.

Actually, not quite. They are doing huge number of tests, and have multiple test systems. Early on, the Chinese gave them "real-time" technology (results in 3 hours), they are now deploying new test systems done together with a Japanese company, I think it is 1.5 hours to results.

==

BUT: testing is only a part of the needed effort -- and testing using ANY system produces lots of false negatives -- simply the virus is there, but not on the sample YET.

Chinese require two negative tests, day(s?) apart, to proclaim a symptom-less person to be virus-free. Not enforcing multiple tests was actually one of the mistakes they made initially, and the stories about cured people being reinfected come from this particular mistake.

So relying only on tests is suicidal.
