Rapid Drift of Magnetic North Explained
Earth Sky ^ | May 18, 2020 | Deborah Byrd

The location of Earth’s north magnetic pole appears to be controlled from deep within Earth by 2 competing blobs in the magnetic field. One is under Canada, and the other is under Siberia. “The Siberian blob is winning,” according to scientists.

You probably know that a compass doesn’t point to true north. Earth’s geographic north pole – and magnetic north pole – were first recognized as two different places in 1831. Until the early 1990s, the magnetic North Pole was known to lie some 1,000 miles south of true north, in Canada. Yet, as scientists realized, the location of magnetic north was not fixed. Magnetic north was drifting at a rate of up to about 9 miles (15 km) a year. Since the 1990s, however, the drift of Earth’s magnetic north pole has turned into “more of a sprint,” scientists say. Its present speed is about 30 to nearly 40 miles a year (50-60 km a year) toward Siberia. And now – using satellite measurements – scientists in Europe have helped confirm a theory as to why Earth’s magnetic north pole is drifting so rapidly.

Once magnetic north drifts far enough away from true north, we may see the “flip” of poles where north becomes south and south becomes north.

hold kamchatka to prevent an asian bonus... while defending north america...

you are dealt the hand you have, so different strategies... i always fought for austalia to start... easy to build up and defend.. one way in... second to that was south america with a piece of africa and north america to prevent migration from either... and build... hold cards til the cashing in is big and then crush others for cards and cash in...

Yet right now, this year, the north magnetic is slightly “south” of the geographic north pole by about 2 degrees latitude, directly in line between the north pole and the Bering Strait.
Next year, it will be over the Siberian side of the arctic.

So, in the Atlantic ocean and europe, the correction must be changed, while south of Alaska - over the entire Pacific actually, the correction has reversed, and get larger east year.

Could world electrical systems be contributing to this? All electrical circuits make magnetic fields. The largest electrical circuits are in North America. They are not aligned with each other so are they weakening the natural fields? Just a thought.
