Toilet paper from China wouldn’t even have been a product to contemplate in the before-times. Back when people could buy goods and services, in exchange for paper representing currency. Amazon could fulfill any order any time. Back in the before-times. Then came the lockdowns in response to the CCP coronavirus pandemic, and life as we knew it ceased. Lots of people engaged in panic shopping.
Toilet paper was, inexplicably, one of the first products to experience shortages, and it’s still not fully back in stock on store shelves two months later. Some folks got out ahead of the curve and ordered it online. There was so much panic buying, however, that even Amazon experienced delays and shortages. Some orders for things in short supply, like toilet paper, are only now being fulfilled. What customers have received has not always matched the product description. In fact, toilet paper from China is being substituted for Charmin or Angel Soft, and the reviews leave a lot to be desired.
A friend of mine posted this on social media:
So I’ll share a story. When all this craziness started and the run on TP began, I decided to order some safety stock of toilet paper from Amazon. I ordered a 20 pack of toilet paper.
Wait time was going to be long, but no big deal since I already had a bunch of toilet paper here. No doubt, the stuff was coming from China.
Well, it finally arrived on Saturday.
And THIS is what I got. (ETA- that’s a normal American roll of toilet paper on top. Scamming Chinese crap on the bottom)
Needless to say, I was pretty salty.

I’m not seeing any breakage of their precious rules, myself.
The “more chinese scams” line got it deleted. It was not necessary.
American companies are working 24/7 producing toilet papers
The problem came because when people hoarded AND then were ordered to stay home the manufacturing was disrupted. There are two lines.... one for commercial ( not getting much demand because no one is out using other toilets) and one for home use ( getting huge demand). There is no way change over from one to the other. The American companies are starting to catch up
Come on folks dont buy from China
I had to order a box of TP from Amazon about a month into the COVID panic scam. It took three weeks to get here.
I was also heartbroken to find out the only good pair of high dollar shoes I own were made in China.
I’m over this. It’s time to dump China, the COVID lockdown, and move on already.
There are two kinds of reviews. Product, and seller. This should been in the seller review.
Mine never arrived. Seller never replied. Asked for and got refund.
TP from China via Amazon - - same experience, except I bought 5 rolls and there was about a half inch of actual tp around a very thick cardboard center. Ordered similar from ebay, still have not received it.
Exactly. How hard is that to understand
“When all this craziness started and the run on TP began, I decided to order some safety stock of toilet paper from Amazon. I ordered a 20 pack of toilet paper.

Does anyone else detect just a bit of irony in this TP hoarder’s statement?
“The more chinese scams line got it deleted. It was not necessary.”
Agree. I’ve seen plenty of crappy reviews for ‘pop-up’ toilet paper at Amazon - they certainly let enough get through to be able to tell they’re scams.
By the way, this article reminded me to order some more (not that I need it, but now is also the time to restock - before the next Coronavirus wave). So I ordered, but only name-brand, with over 1000 reviews (almost all positive).
Remove the word “Chinese” from the review, and focus it on the seller and not the country. That way it will go through.
If you change “waited 2 months” to “waited months for it to ship from China”, then people reading your review will know what you mean, but Amazon won’t be able to claim you’re insulting an entire country.
(And no, I don’t think this review should have been censored. I’m only suggesting ways to sneak around those censors.)
Just say “Luxembourg” instead of “China”. People will catch on.
I was thinking you could call it “Bezosland”. ;-)
I think when you put scam next to Chinese, then you get in trouble with Amazon. It is okay to use scam by itself in a review and I think you can make factual disparaging remarks about that particular Chinese product.
My wife ordered some back in March on a whim. It arrived a couple weeks ago. Charmin, it aint. Chinese writing all across it and $2 a roll. The Chinese stuck it to us again.
I’ve written some honest bad reviews on Amazon. They get rejected. The first, I ordered some unique orchid seeds for my wife. She planted them and I am not sure what they were but they were nothing like the orchids I ordered. They looked more like lawn weeds. Another time I ordered a pack of 5 grinder disks, they shipped one and it was not even in original packaging. I wrote bad reviews on both and both were rejected.
It seems like bad review are deleted and good review are sometimes fake, I go elsewhere for reviews of certain items. For bigger items, I got to repair sites. I also found that the sites that specialize in product reviews are basically crap. Reality rarely matches their reviews.
Looks like toilet paper. I guess you dont like the packaging.
> working 24/7
24/7 ~= 3.43
24 x 7 (= 168), please.
FR is a place that bucks stupid trends and expressions.
Thanks!
