a retracting statue would make sense. hydraulics in the pedestal aand a sliding door, like a missile silo.
I am sure they will want to replace the ones they tore down with ones of themselves.

What an interesting question. But of course the statue being torn down would then have to removed. Because it is obviously offensive! Otherwise it wouldn’t have been torn down in the first place.
So you’d be left with a statue of someone tearing down, well, nothing.

I think any statue can be commissioned. But if the statue of the statue being torn down is torn down as it is being erected, this could cause a bootstrap recursion black hole reverse dynamic, like what happened in the Lion, Witch & Wardrobe. There is more to be said about witches tearing down erections or more often simply preventing erections but you didn’t ask about that specifically.
Sort of like looking at a reflection of yourself looking in a mirror.
It would only get torn down. Someone would get triggered over the cables resembling a noose and demand that it come down.
I know some are simply being put right back up assuming they aren’t seriously damaged, there was in DC that was torn down and put back up within days.
I suggested to my husband that a no -profit organization should be started to commission the replacement of destroyed statues and historical monuments as well as purchase land to put them on (so they are no longer on public property). Would this be feasible?
A statue garden of various famous Commies being strung up by their necks is needed. Marx, Lenin, Trotsky ... the lot.

We need to start 'non-profits' all over the culture landscape. That's what democrats do - they take in billions - much of it grants from the government. Start with non-profits to build statues of dem mayors holding gas cans and matches for looters to burn buildings...

Great idea... better but maybe not as entertaining as mine for statuary surrounded by electrified cattle grating.
I think the statue should include mindless zombie vandals doing the destruction.
