Olympic figure skater Yekaterina Alexandrovskaya, a 20-year-old Australian national who was born in Russia, has died after falling out of a window in Moscow, her coach said.
Russian officials did not immediately comment on the cause of death, but coach Andrei Khekalo told AFP news agency that she had fallen from a sixth-floor window in central Moscow.
The coach said Aexandrovskaya missed a training session in January and was later diagnosed with epilepsy, leading her to quit the sport.
He said she had earlier suffered from depression.

There have been several reports of Russian citizens ‘falling out of windows’ in the last few months. A few scientists among them.
Yeah, epileptic, 20, depressed about losing her figure skating career... clearly a Putin hit.
This may have been a true suicide, considering that the young girl suffered from both epilepsy and depression.
My sympathies to her family.

Very sad. She had everything to live for but perhaps couldn’t see that at this very young stage in her life; in her mind, she had just lost everything. The worst kind of tragedy.
Russians just gotta learn to put more distance between themselves and open windows before half the country succumbs to the threat of the Killer Windows App.
Probably dead before she hit the ground.

You can't keep a good man down. He's like the famous burning bush that Moses decided to check out in order to discover the nature of the thing.
Who knows what this young lady could have accomplished by embracing her unexpected new direction in life, the one not involving an intentional fall.
Terrible in that figure skating is all about falling down hard and getting right back up again.
In 1984 I was a junior at Syracuse U. A friend was the RA at a 20 story dorm doing the midnight to 8am night shift on the first floor entry. He heard a thud outside as something hit the concrete about 2 am. He was the first on the scene.
Called 911.
A guy rolled over in bed and fell out the sliding window from one of the upper floors. The dorm rooms all had these sliding windows that opened up about 30”. After that, they made it so the windows could not open more than about 8”. SU settled out of court with his folks.
There’s been a lot of that going around in Russia.
