First vanity, hope I'm not breaking rules. Looking for some assistance from KC freepers. Traveling through there in September and was wondering what the restaurant situation(due to Covid)is downtown and what area is best. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

I love Jack Stack! I’ve been to Overland Park, Plaza and Union Station. They’re all great.
Love BBQ or a great steak. Downtown safe? Never been to KC.
Wear mask. Limited seating. The mayor may be cutting back on interior seating again. Kansas side is not quite as restricted as the Missouri side is so plenty of dining in Johnson County.
Downtown is fine. Country Club Plaza is safe too. I live east of town and my sister is in Johnson County. What are your plans?
Any number of great steakhouses and as for barbecue KC has roughly 90 barbecue restaurants. Also known for pan-fried chicken.
Based on one visit: Garozzo’s, Joe’s Kansas City BBQ, Jack Stack BBQ, Happy Gillis Cafe
Things to see: WWI Museum, Train Station, City Market.
There is much more I am sure. My daughter moves there next month so I will learn more.
Be VERY CAREFUL if you re in Kansas City MISSOURI. Mostly very black & not very safe.
If you are partial to Italian, try Garozzos downtown. Old Italian neighborhood. Great place!!
We ate at Strouds up north many times. Never disappointed but always a wait for a table.
There is usually a wait up north. I never had to wait at the Mission one which is now closed.
Isn’t Kansas City Kansas supposed the be the rougher more dangerous part than Kansas City Missouri?
Lots and lots of good barbeque places.
My fave is Arthur Bryant’s.
