Alex Smith discusses his decision
I understand everyone hates the NFL, but Alex Smith is one of the good guys.
VIDEO AT LINK............................
Ping!...................
Wonder how much of his brain is left for him to enjoy the millions of dollars he was paid.
He was still playing? Who knew?
Not much...................
What’s sad is Alex Smith IS one of the good guys. Guys like him dream of playing in NFL when they’re 5. They work hard to get there and then a bunch of “woke” thugs spoil it for them and every fan.
I was a HUGE Redskins fan in the 80’s when John Riggins, Coy Bacon, Joe Theismann and Dave Butz (to name a few) were the stars. All good guys and good patriots.
He’s a QB, so he’ll have most of his brain function remaining. Linebackers, on the other hand, seem most likely to get CTE
Defenisve backs even more so !
I was a DB in high school. I got injured quite a bit. Of course, I was only about 155 lbs. as a senior. With today’s size and speed of many players, I’m constantly amazed that the collisions don’t injure more of the smaller players.
The Catch #3. Alex Smith is a good QB. SF should have kept him.
Yeah, he was great wearing his diaper pin after Trump was elected.
I have liked watching football, but it is obviously one of the most physically punishing sports, even with all the protective equipment worn today.
I have my dad’s old 1930s high school yearbook, with a picture in it of their football team, and dad in that picture. The team members have their uniforms on including their head gear. The padding under their uniforms is so skimpy and their headgear so thin that by today’s standards they might as well have played in their regular gym clothes.
It was probably safer than with helmets, proper tackling techniques were abandoned for getting that hit that makes “ESPN SportsCenter”.
And.....? I should care because?
Speaking of DBs I am thinkming of Pat Fisher of Redskin fame (He did previously play a long time with the Cardinals !) Supposed playing weight was 175 lbs (Height 5 ft 9 inches) I wonder how he is ?
Some people just have the right bone-structure, technique, and toughness to hold up under the repeated, violent contact. It’s just like any other sport...some people are just “built for it.”
I’m not sure how the guy is doing, but I could probably do an internet search and track him down.
Andrew Luck wasn’t lucky, he was smart.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics in 2 years and was working on his master’s when drafted.
Hope he continues his education.....................
